Meet Prophocey | Multi Award Winning, National Recording Artist, & CEO of Real Music Records, LLC.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Prophocey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Prophocey, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
In the entrepreneurial world. It is very easy to get distracted by the smallest thing. Even the most focused individual can be seen daydreaming about the numbers they are wanting to achieve this year, or the next big move they are looking to make. To avoid these distractions I have created a few rules, and regulations to prevent this from happening to me. First, thing I do after my prayer time is being as organized as I possibly can. Emails, texts, conference calls, and notes. Are all placed in specific areas for for a covenant follow up method of 24 to 48 hours. Second, Given that I work admin work during the 8am – 2pm time frame. I always schedule a rehearsal time around 6pm -10pm for a full mental artistic release. You have no idea how important music is in regards too relaxing. Third, During moving hour I try to have one healthy snack. Followed by a light lunch. I find that heavy lunches may slow you down after 1pm. Which is hen most of the follow calls call back to the office. Forth I preplan my dinner arrangements. its always a drag to be so tried that you don’t want to cook. I find that if I pre cook, or pre plan my dinner arrangements my evening, or night after rehearsal becomes that much more relaxing. Lastly we all need some alone time. After a long day I typically turn on a movie or show that is guaranteed to make me laugh. Laughter can get you through even the toughest of days. Then off to bed.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music/art is, and has always been original. I think the difference between my music, and most. Is that there is a soul placed in the middle of it that runs the whole show. Some of the music today, even in the christian realms. Are not backed by the full understanding of God’s love through hardships, or blessed times in their life. It’s just music, and that does’t carry as long or heavy as the music connected through a soulful purpose to God. I’m most excited about is the new music Im looking to release next year. This album long over due. So over due I may have to release multiple projects next year lol! We will see though. I studied as many professional individuals as I could. Not to copy their moves, but to understand why they made the moves in the first place. Some of the moves were for a quick gain. Others were for years later. Sometimes I couldn’t understand until it was the right time. I knew it wasn’t going be easy. I also knew that as a fast learner it wouldn’t be long before I could to be able to make a difference in my life and others. Overcoming challenges for me starts with God. Then it moves to string not he right path no matter what. Some of these roads of business seem good but they aren’t. For example. Simple knowing how to read a contact can save your thousands of dollars. Education is the key. All you need to know is that God is real, and he is showing all of you through me that with consistent good business practices, and great music you will be able to succeed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man! Me, and my best friend would have a great time. There is so much to do (When I am actually not working) lol! When me, and my best friend get to gather. We spend a lot of time doing simple things. With both us being grown men and busy in our own lives. We would be cooking good Caribbean food while playing loud music, playing some call of duty, or watching classic movies that have us laughing till five in the morning. It’s always the simple things that have us in a different world. After that we would head to Cider Point, and ride every roller coster there. Not to mention the waterpark. Towards the end of the evening we would go to one of my favorite video game arcade spots, and play Mario cart until they closed. Then to complete the night head to IHOP for one of the classic pancake stacks. Again the simple things make life real.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If we are speaking of stories. Mine goes way back lol! Just kidding. Spiritually speaking I will alway’s give glory, and honor to God who has been my guild, protector, and talent director before I was even born. After that. One of the first major supporters in my career is a sound engineer by the name of Mark Abrams. He has been the pillar in my recordings, arrangement, mixing, and mastering records. Being a sound engineer for over fifteen plus years. His resume is superb. Dealing with clients such 21 Pilots, Justin Timberlake, and me lol! All my business management, networking, and professional social skills are based on Jeannie Mok. This young lady helped me grow from seeing the little photo. Until I had a wall mural. This is a very important skill that needs to be had because artist don’t always want to grow the way they have too. Lastly, It is Tiffany Gaines. This young lady has dominated her side of the music industry as a Music & Entertainment brand strategist, Business consultant Entertainment manager, and celebrity publicist. All of these minds come together and not only help me, but the label as well.
