Meet Amanda & Dave Klaehn | Owners of Thirty-Two 8 Inspired & Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda & Dave Klaehn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda & Dave, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I (Amanda) grew up around Portage Lakes, OH and graduated from Manchester High School in 2009. As a child, things were pretty smooth-sailing. My parents went to work, my older brother and I went to school, we’d go on regular family vacations and essentially coasted until 2005 when my father was diagnosed with brain cancer. After that, my workhorse of a father was forced to go on disability and my mother was faced with continuing to work full-time while also juggling the schedule of appointments, cancer treatments, and endless school functions for the kids.
Looking back, I don’t know how either of them handled the stress they were dealt- but they did it effortlessly. Watching them get up day after day and put one foot in front of the other instilled a strength in me I may not have developed otherwise. I balance this strength with the constant reminder that our lives are short and can be changed in an instant with a simple doctor’s visit, phone call, or text message.
As my husband Dave and I take on this new adventure of owning a brick-and-mortar, I feel prepared for the many ups and downs that are sure to come our way and I hope your readers will support our journey!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As of November 1, 2023 we will be the proud owners of Thirty-Two 8 Inspired & Co. Although we are not the original owners of the shop, we have had a front seat to all of the hard work the original owner has put into it since May 2021. We started out as vendors in the shop, and when we learned the owner was moving to Florida – I (Amanda) looked at Dave and said “Would it be crazy if we just… tried to buy the shop?”
A few months later, and here we are! It has not been an easy road at all. We received a lot more “no’s” than we could have anticipated. We put our trust in each other and the process, and pushed forward day after day. In our hearts, we felt that this was meant to be the next chapter in our story and we are looking forward to making so many of our ideas a reality in the shop.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have to take them to our most favorite spots :
Lost Trail Winery (Canton, OH) – They have the best live music, food trucks, and their wine slushies are a MUST try!
Best Bib and Tucker (Hartville, OH) – A consignment shop you may have to make several trips in order to see everything they have to offer. They have the coziest leggings, and are restocking their racks every day.
Hartville Chocolate Factory (Hartville, OH) – Chocolate. Need we say more?
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This Shoutout is dedicated to Eric M. Hendrickson Sr. (9/16/1960-11/11/2018). My dad talked about owning a business of his own one day- but unfortunately, never had the chance. Taking this leap into the business world is fueled by my desire to do what he wasn’t able and to show our children what you can accomplish if you keep pushing forward.
