Meet Angel Inspires | Inspirational Speaker and Mompreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Inspires and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Mount Vernon, NY. Home of some of the greats such as Denzel Washington and Heavy D. I grew up in a single parent household, the youngest of 4 children. I was afflicted by a series of life events, some self inflicted.. which caused me to change my thinking. As I sat back and observed people around me and their actions, I concluded that vulnerability and transparency which was viewed as weakness, actually was a strength and key in personal growth and development. After changing some associations to include individuals who had different upbringings and beliefs, I saw the behavioral differences and decided to take what I felt was necessary for me to apply to my life so that I could be as uplifting, impactful and transformative as possible. Life is all about choices, you can choose to take the red pill or the blue pill. Neither choice will be easier than the other, but one will create more opportunities than problems.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a woman that wears many hats. I’m a mom, wife, boutique owner and inspirational speaker to name a few titles. Survival mode has both pros and cons to it because a lot of what I am capable of is self taught. I became an inspirational speaker in 2014 after taking time in solitude to reflect on my upbringing, my decisions, consequences and more. While in solitude, I read self help books such as “Think and Grow rich” and “Outwitting the devil” by Napoleon Hill, “The magic of Believing” by Claude Bristol and others. These books piqued my curiosity about the mind, the way it functions and why we act/behave as we do. Realizing the complexity of the mind gave me clarity that I felt needed to be taught to those in my community and beyond. As a speaker, my approach could be compared to that of a masseuse. A masseuse massages the outside body parts but target deep tissues to help alleviate pain and discomfort. I realized that something as simple as asking questions can lead us to an aha moment. I ask my audience and viewers questions that seem plain but targets masked trauma and self sabotaging behavior. This paired with sharing my story and personal experience have given me a title of being a transformative speaker. What sets me apart from others is my intuitive abilities. I know when someone is going through something without them uttering a word about it. I can sense when someone is trying hard to mask pain. Some of my engagements include speaking at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, hosting 6+ empowerment seminars, talking with high school students and more.
Becoming Angel Inspires was not easy. Because I assist others in their healing journey and preach self love, self care. Personal growth and development, shifting your paradigm etc. I am adamant about making sure I walk the walk. This requires me to hold a mirror to myself to make sure that I am doing the work that I so strongly suggest others to do. One huge lesson I learned is that when the most high gives you a gift, you oughta use it. I’ve had times where I was unaccepting of my gifts and talents but doing anything less than that has caused me trouble and inner conflict. You cannot run from your calling. Embrace it but remember to give yourself grace too because you are human.
One thing I want the world to know about my brand and story is that empowerment is sown into every aspect of it. I empower women to look and feel their very best with my boutique. I empower all genders 11-adult to embrace their uniqueness and to own their story through my speaking. If we could first focus on ourselves, then we can learn to be more kind and considerate to others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting the City, we’d start off with brunch at the Mustardseed Market and Cafe. I love it there because they have healthy options and vegan alternatives. Next we’d take a ride on the scenic railroad that goes through Cuyahoga valley National Park because I love nature! We’d wrap of that day with dinner and drinks at El Pàtron. Throughout the rest of the trip, we’d visit the Viral Columbus selfie museum to take fun and memorable pictures, visit the Starbucks in the historical location in the old Tangiers restaurant and Cafè, visit the Toledo Museum of art and more.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. I want to acknowledge that I know they did the best they could with what they had. They gave me life and I would not exist without them. I love them very much.
