Meet Christopher Ott | Writer, Director & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Ott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It’s a pretty simple answer, it’s because of Star Wars. Growing up, I loved Star Wars and would watch it all the time. When episode one came out, that really was what decided what I wanted todo as a career. I was standing up in the theater watching it, I couldn’t sit down. It’s also what got me into Space and really peaked my interest in Science. Originally, I wanted to work in VFX, but that interest slowly changed into Directing, Writing, Producing and Marketing.
I chose this career path, because I want to tell stories that transport audiences to a different time, place or in some cases universes. I want audiences to see the world through the eyes of others and go on a journey with them. Sometimes they will be familiar characters or they will be brand new ones. Sometimes the journey isn’t always good, but regardless we can learn from them.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im really excited for the future. Things are being to happen that I don’t want to talk about yet. So I’ll just leave it at that!
No, it’s not easy, it’s never easy you definitely have to push through lots of adversity.
Biggest lesson I’ve learned is don’t take on more than you chew. I’ve made this mistake a few times and it’s hurt, but you come out stronger and wiser.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on when they come, First thing is going to watch the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium or watch the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium.
Second would be exploring the short north, lots of little shops and great restaurants with good food and drinks.
Of course there is also the Ohio Theater, something good may be playing. Who knows! Guess it just depends on weekend!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people I have to that I’d have to write a book.
The most important person I need to thank my mother who has always been supportive and has always been there for me.
Second would be my friends, we’ve all been friends since either elementary school or middle school and have had lots of good times together. Lots of inspiration has from those times and the things we have done together or separately. They have always been there for me and I can’t thank them enough.
Thirdly, is my friend and mentor Ori, while the age gap is significant. He is always someone I can turn to for help and he has helped my career more than I could ever thank him. I’ve learned a lot from him, so much I can’t even name them all.
Four, all the cast and crew members I’ve worked with over the years so far. Way too many of you to name, but you all rock!
Lastly, thank you George Lucas for creating a saga that started “A long time ago, in a galaxy, far far away”.
