Meet Brittany Styles | Event & Interior Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Styles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a designer. I would plan every detail of my birthday parties and hand-make various decorations. When I was around 9 years old, I decorated my first “big girl” room. It was pink and green and had polka-dots all over the walls. Of course there was a matching polka dot comforter as well. I remember the feeling of satisfaction walking into my room and seeing my space. I can also remember the smile on my face when people couldn’t believe I had made party decorations out of various recycled materials.
Although I didn’t always know how it would happen, I always dreamed of providing the gift of design to others for them to enjoy at their own events and in their homes. There is something so refreshing about walking into a beautiful space that has been curated just for you.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t believe God gave me these gifts and talents for me to only use for my personal benefit. They were gifted to me so that I can impact others. I truly value community and togetherness. The work I do is directly linked to this value. At Style House by Brittany we create lavish environments so that our clients can gather in luxury. There is such fullness in fellowship and celebrations and it’s even more enjoyable when we can do it in a beautiful space.
This journey has not been easy. I have learned overtime that that is perfectly okay. Who actually said that it would be? Oftentimes entrepreneurs and creatives feel that we are doing something wrong if everything isn’t running smoothly at all times. I have had people try and convince me that because things are too challenging, maybe I’m doing the wrong thing, taking the wrong path, and should try something else. But what if that’s how we know we are in fact on the right path? What if the path being challenging and uncomfortable is our sign of growth. The way I continue to overcome is through patience, prayer, and taking breaks. I am in no rush and trust that whatever is for me and my business will find me.
I want people to know that designing and styling spaces does not have to be stressful. The design and planning process can be just as enjoyable as the end result. I enjoy taking my time to plan and execute my projects. I do not believe in rushing projects. I want the time I spend with my clients to feel easy. I want the same for my vendors, creative partners, assistants, etc. I am excited to grow as a creative and provide dynamic ideas to more clients and brands. I look forward to finding other businesses to collaborate with as well!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a girls weekend! Food is always going to be the top priority for me. To those who are super into activities, I say “eating IS an activity”. Honey Uninhibited is a great choice for some yummy food and good vibes. Strolls at Findlay Market are always full of great vendors and wonderful snacks. I hear Top Golf is a good time although I haven’t been yet. And lastly, I always tell people to check out Newport on The Levee. It really is a cool spot and has some beautiful views of the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
College can be a hot topic. “To go or not to go”. Some feel that it is a complete waste of time and a poor use of financial resources. However, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without having gone to college. Both the design and entrepreneurship program at Northern Kentucky University have been incredibly helpful in my journey of entrepreneurship and refining my eye for design. I am grateful for the insight and encouragement my professors have provided me, and thankful to those who continue to support me even after graduation.
I am grateful to my mentors who challenge me, educate me, pray for me, and always support me. Finding solid mentors can be a challenge but I am grateful to have a few individuals I can call whenever I’m in need. They keep me going. Of course, I also have to shout out my parents. They have supported me in many ways that allow me to pursue my dreams.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without these individuals and the resources they have all provided.
