We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Ewell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born on a small family farm near Brighton Ohio. Due to have no running water or a bathroom, it taught me how to be self sufficient and appreciate the little things in life from a young age. During the spring, summer and fall I spent almost all my time outdoors and this gave me an appreciation for nature and for all the blessings in my life even today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, I made the many days travel to California to reconnect with my older brothers. Once in California, I attended the university of California school of law. Then after finishing law school I came to Fresno which is located in the central valley. I have never left Fresno ever since I moved after law school and I have practiced law for many years and also a land developer among other things. A few notable projects I built includes Brighton Crest golf course, Milerton new town master planned community and other land projects. I am married and am a father of five sons. I chose ultimately to write, “Sunday afternoons and other times remembered in order to share my life story. Throughout, my life I have learned many lessons and gone through many challenges but the key is to never give up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would travel to Circle E ranch which is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills over looking Milerton Lake where I stay often. Then, after a weekend on the ranch I would keep driving towards Yosemite National park, in order to see some of it’s breathtaking sites of nature. Lastly, I would love to take the on the Austin and Mary Ewell preserve which I started in honor of my parents. The Austin and Mary Ewell preserve is the most special to be because it is a protected land, which is full of wildlife.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to credit my success in life to none other then my parents, Austin and Mary Ewell. My parents taught me perseverance and good things can happen when you work hard.
