Meet Armstead Fisher | Christian, Author, Publisher, Army Veteran & Social Worker/Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Armstead Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Armstead, do you have a budget?
My approaches to personal finances are to make every effort to keep debt as low as possible. The long-tested biblical approach is true today: “the borrower is slave to the lender.” Make the effort to limit the number of credit cards that you have. If it’s a credit card you have, then you never own them. Soon the interest rate on these cards is going to be 30 percent. Get yourself several debit cards. If you find yourself having to borrow money, then use the money primarily for the reason you borrowed. Borrow wisely and pay it back swiftly. My approach is to try to remain open in my faith. For example, my God has many ways and approaches. He is a builder. He built the Ark and the Temple. He is a feeder and fed the people with loaves of bread and fish. And He watches investments as He did with those He provided the Talents. My approach is to give from the heart by remembering the needy. Spend wisely, and don’t forget to take a look back at these time-tested investments: gold and silver and land. And whenever necessary, use the above-mentioned approaches to personal finances to support your entrepreneurial pursuits.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I enjoy helping people, servicing the needy, and contributing and donating to charitable endeavors. I like competition in the form of team sports or individual recreational games. I really enjoy helping people to move from troubling circumstances to self-sufficiency. With God in control, my more than 24 years of successful sobriety has allowed me to live some of my dreams, such as publishing my books, graduating from college and retiring from the Veterans’ Administration. And I am not done dreaming yet. I just retired from my employer… not my life. Maintaining sobriety is not easy. The first year of my sobriety, my nose would run just from the first seasonal cutting of grass. My lessons learned were to keep your dreams alive, and then they can always be lived out. And there is a hope and a chance waiting there for anyone to receive. I want everyone in the whole entire world to go on Amazon and order my books and read my writings. When you read “Rainbow Promise Me Songs” and ‘Proverbially Speaking” you are going to learn about me. Follow me in the days to come. Within the next eight months I plan to have two more books available on Amazon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course, I would take my friend to eat, maybe at Cincy Seafood or to Rio Grande Mexican restaurant, or maybe our local Thai restaurant (my personal favorite is Mai Thai or 3 Ladies). We would go watch the Cincinnati Bengals football team, and Cincinnati Reds baseball team. And maybe my single friends would want to just go to a theater, art museum, or to a park to meet a date. Other than that, I do not know because I’m no longer dating.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to Megan Williams and it’s not specifically for the past things she has done. Megan gets the shout out because I believe together there is somewhere further for us to go tomorrow, than we went today or yesterday. And Megan is the person with me now. She is the person in whom I dump all of my sociological ideas. Megan is the person I pound over the head with my bombardment of philosophical and theoretical dialogue. I know my zest for social and theological theory can be overwhelming. So far, Megan has stuck with me as my partner and I thank her. I give a special thanks to the following people: The now deceased Mrs. Beatrice O’Brien who was with me early on in my substance abuse recovery. She helped me with writing, especially poetry and helped me by editing my books. A shoutout to Mr. Scott D. Mims, who emphasized to me the importance of establishing rapport, identifying stressors and then helping the patient/client to reduce those troubling stressors. Of course, there are many more people to thank. However, my final thanks are going to go to the benefit of examining the strategies behind recreational games and sports, such as chess, basketball and tennis. There is a strategy to be examined throughout every game and sport that, if applied correctly, can benefit your life.
