We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Heirsmac-Akinjogunla and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a bridal store was driven by a desire to celebrate the unique beauty and diversity of every bride. Recognizing that women come in all shapes and sizes, yet the bridal industry often seemed limited in its offerings, the goal was to fill this gap. The thought process began with a deep understanding of the challenges many women face when looking for the perfect wedding dress. Often, they are confronted with a lack of variety in sizes, styles, and designs that genuinely cater to their individual body types and personal tastes.

The vision was to create a space where every bride feels welcomed, understood, and catered to. This meant designing and carrying a diverse range of dresses, not just in sizes but in styles that flatter different body types, from petite to plus-size, and everything in between. The focus was on inclusivity, ensuring that each bride could find a dress that not only fits her body beautifully but also resonates with her personal style and the unique essence of her wedding day.

In addition to offering a wide range of sizes and styles, the business model also emphasized personalized consultations. This approach ensures that each bride receives individual attention and guidance in selecting her dream dress, turning dress shopping from a potential stressor into a cherished part of her wedding journey.

Ultimately, the decision to start this business was about more than just selling wedding dresses. It was about creating a positive and empowering experience for brides during one of the most significant moments of their lives, ensuring they feel confident, beautiful, and truly themselves as they step into a new chapter of life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional journey to where I am today was far from easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. The path was marked by a blend of passion, perseverance, and a clear vision, especially in the bridal fashion industry where my love for long trains, extravagant styles, and Victorian themes became the cornerstone of my brand.

The journey began with a deep appreciation for the artistry in bridal fashion. My fascination with long trains and the grandeur of Victorian-themed weddings fueled my ambition. However, transforming this passion into a successful business involved overcoming numerous challenges. The fashion industry is competitive and demanding, and carving out a niche required not just creativity but also business acumen and resilience.

One of the significant challenges was gaining recognition in a saturated market. To stand out, I focused on quality, uniqueness, and personalization. Every dress designed carried the essence of extravagance and elegance, embodying the Victorian theme’s romanticism and sophistication. This specialization became our brand’s signature, attracting clients who sought something beyond the ordinary.

Another challenge was adapting to the ever-changing trends while staying true to our unique style. I learned to balance innovation with our core values, ensuring that each design, though contemporary, still echoed the grandeur of Victorian aesthetics.

Financial and operational hurdles were also part of the journey. Managing resources, scaling production, and maintaining high standards of quality required strategic planning and a willingness to take calculated risks. There were moments of doubt and setbacks, but what kept me going was the belief in my vision and the positive feedback from brides who found their dream gowns with us.

The lessons learned along the way are numerous:

1. Passion Fuels Persistence: My love for bridal fashion and commitment to my vision helped me navigate through tough times.
2. Adaptability is Key: The ability to adapt to market trends and client needs without losing the brand’s essence is crucial.
3. Quality Over Quantity: Maintaining high standards in our designs and customer service set us apart in the industry.
4. Building Relationships is Vital: Strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners have been instrumental in our success.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s a testament to the beauty of dreams and the power of dedication. It’s about creating art that resonates with people’s most cherished moments and providing an experience that is as memorable as the dresses we design. Our brand is not just about selling wedding gowns; it’s about crafting a legacy of beauty, elegance, and an ode to the grand Victorian era, reimagined for the modern bride.

Most importantly the grace of God has kept us and keep lifting us up
