We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Gorby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My focus behind starting my business was to help people. Providing a natural way to aid the body, with minimal side effects while also being able to keep products affordable in an already struggling economy. All of my products have been formulated because a family member suffered an ailment and needed it. From the research done, to the dedication of creating a recipe, and the love to perfect it. Knowing that it was created because someone I love needed help but couldn’t achieve it from mainstream sources. I knew others had similar experiences and set out to share my knowledge, that is where the idea sprouted from.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Scrunchy Mama Life LLC is on its 5th year since it was first announced open in 2018. I created it out of determination when I was on a fixed income, by setting aside a little amount each month until I had saved enough to order the first batch of supplies and test out my first couple recipes. This being one of the initial pillars that started the foundation to my business, is something that will always humble me. It was not easy, even after I had an established clientele. Between the boom of natural products everywhere and the scrutiny that small businesses faced day to day, I’ve witnessed a lot of small businesses close. The one thing that has sustained me through ALL of the difficult times is knowing that I’m helping people and that fuels me to make more, create more, and share more. Knowing that people are getting relief, without putting financial strain on them, is the fundamental pride and driving force behind my business. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to just be you. Be as authentic, real and transparent as possible. Connect with your fellow people and see them for who they are, not just at face value, we dont know everyone’s story. At the end of the day, I am just a mom. I strive to pass on knowledge and healing in hopes it will make life easier to navigate, not just for parents but for every one setting out on the journey of better self-care, better health, and overall wellbeing of mind, body, and soul.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everything would be based around food. Food heals the soul. Benihana is on the list. Along with The Root Beer Stand, Blue Ash Chili, Larosa’s, Skyline, Zips, City Barbecue and Buffalo Wings & Rings. A couple spots well worth the drive is Pompilios and Anchor Grill. If it was possible to do all events, Goettafest and a food truck weekend followed by a drive-in, would be a perfect close to it all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The biggest support and encouragement I’ve received is the community online in which I’ve become apart of. Accumulated of mostly moms and other small business owners, we all have an understanding to the depths we go for not only our businesses but our families as well.
