We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Sisouphanh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal in my tattooing career would be traveling across the globe leaning and tattooing with other artists and mastering a wide range of styles along the way. There’s a lot of people in the art world that I really look up to and being able to learn and work with them would be amazing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As far as art/tattooing styles, there are so many I love but my absolute favorite has to be neotraditional art. Something about all the detail and the artistic expression in the pieces have always stood out to me. This style is such a beautiful way to create something unique and delicate but also dramatic that you won’t be able to take your eyes off of. Throughout the years even as an apprentice I’ve always wanted to tattoo in this style but of course you have to work your way up from doing tattoos of symbols and words to intricate pieces that take multiple sessions and hours of drawing. The hardest thing about my journey was being patient and not biting off more than I could chew. As time goes on you get more and more confident doing bigger and more intricate pieces. The sky is the limit when it comes to art which is part of the reason why I love what I do so much. The learning and expanding never stops. I want the world to see all of the cool pieces I get to create, and I want to spread love and kindness along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite things to do is eat. Having good food with good people is the best way spend quality time. Some of my favorite spots around town would definitely be Bender’s tavern in Canton, where you can get fresh seafood and have a good cocktail with friends. Another really great place to spend time is Fronimo’s, an Italian joint downtown that’ll treat you like family and feed you some dishes that you’ll tell your friends about. Canton has a ton of really good spots to grab a bite and relax, but it’s the people that you surround yourself with that make it an even better time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shout-out to all the wonderful people I’ve met and tattooed along my journey so far. Thank you for making all of this possible for me. Whether I’ve worked with you once or multiple times, you’ve made an impact on my career and you’ve allowed me to learn more about my craft with each piece.
