Meet Sami Watterson | Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sami Watterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sami, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have worked in the event space for the past 5 years and truly have a passion for helping others bring their vision to life. As a prior large vendor constantly working with coordinators and other vendors, I feel as if I can bring a more seamless approach to vendor communication, not just creating the design for the event for clients. With the inspiration from my daughter and my love for event details, I knew that I could bring something to the event world from a different view.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started off running a local business that supplied an event service for the past 5 years. I saw that there were some issues within the realm of communication between event designers and other vendors. Because of this, I knew that I did not want that to be a part of my business. I am beyond excited to bring a fresh take on event planning and include custom invitations and signage which is not always offered. It has been super fun being the COO of a business, but I am thrilled to now own my own company and be a one stop shop for all things event design. The most important thing I want people to know is that I really do care about them and want to leave a lasting impact on each person.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Cleveland gets a bad rap, but I really do love it here. I love going to the Flats and enjoying some food and drinks on the water at Lindeys Lake House. Some of my favorite activities would be going to Hilarities for a comedy show, catching a Browns game during football season or a Guardians game at Progressive field, and grabbing dinner in Ohio City. I love going shopping at Crocker Park which is a little more west, but its one of my favorite things to do. When in the area you have to check our Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes, by far my favorite treat shop.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly have the best support system in the world. I took this leap of faith into starting my own business because of the support I had from my family. My husband, Griffin, who is my rock and gives me motivation every day, my parents and in-laws who constantly give me confidence, my sister who always checks in on me, my brother who reminds me every day that I can do whatever I set my mind to, friends who always share my work to help market me, including submitting me for this, and my former boss who gave me the initial opportunity in the event world. And of course, my daughter, who changed my perspective on life and is the namesake of the company. I am truly so blessed with the support I have.
