Meet Rae Holloway | Personal Brand Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rae Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rae, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Let’s be honest. I have a really fun job. I get to meet new people, attend events and creatively tell stories. However, truth be told I spend most of my time at my desk. This includes responding to emails, sending over contracts, retouching photos and editing videos.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Please tell us more about your art.
I’m a curious person by nature. I love listening to podcasts, watching documentaries and reading autobiographies. This curiosity has spilled into my artwork and creative process. A few years ago I decided to get into Personal Brand Photography. As a Brand Photographer, I primarily work with female entrepreneurs. I’m a storyteller and problem solver. My clients come to me to help tell their brand stories visually, through photos and video. Through a series of conversations, I get to know who they are, what they do, why they do it and who they serve. This process helps them to show up authentically and reach their ideal client.
How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy?
Anything worthwhile does not come easy. If it’s something that you want to do you’ve got to put in the work. Even though I’ve been in my profession for 14 years I still invest in myself. Continuing education is something that’s very important to me. I’m in a field that is constantly changing.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way.
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe then no one else will. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction. Negative or positive, what you put out in the universe comes back to you. I’ve been able to manifest the life that I want based on my belief in myself and the things I desire.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Stories on Hiigh- The views are AMAZING and the food is delicious!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mentorship is a big deal for me. Shellee Fisher took me underneath her wing 14 years ago. While attending Columbus College of Art & Design I needed an internship. A mutual friend connected us. During our time together she’s given me so much confidence. I will forever be grateful because she’s taught me how to be a professional, book gigs, execute contracts and has shown me how to use my camera to make money. Seeking out a mentor has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
