Meet kevin Sanchez | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with kevin Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi kevin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
i like to think as risk as neccesary, without risk you are stuck in a comfort zone. growing up my father instilled a sense of urgency to work hard but to do so while something i love, photography is a growing market and you can have weeks of no bookings just to be bombarded months later, itll never be the one same job or gig & youll never know what type of people you have to deal with. all in all being in a “creative field” is in itself a risk these days
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i feel i have a unique way of photographing people, No session is ever really concrete and ive been fortunate enough to have people who let me take a more creative approach rather than traditional portraits, i started with a camera i “borrowed” from my oldest brother and i kind of brought it everywhere and later on as i learned more from youtube and experience and such, i worked towards getting better equipment, i started to network more and more and have made countless of freinds and other likeminded individuals just from photography. there were some hardships as to meeting people who do not value creative work becuase sometimes it isnt viable finiancally but that goes hand in hand with what i would suggest to the world. there can only be room for love in your heart, so please help when you can offer help to those who need it
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
louisville has alot of things you can do, if you just cant stop eating like me and my family you will be pleasantly suprised of what we have to offer, you can start your day off at the Highland morning and grab some good breakfast, afterwards you can head over to the gorgeous Cherokee Park, enjoy a nice stroll, if you enjoy thrifting you can hit up le fluer de flea, a super diverse unique flea market. there are plenty of shoppes in the NULU area. for dinner you can eat at louisvilles best ramen spot and the ramen house & grab dessert at Paris Bahn Mi
you can end off your night with some drinks at The Canary Club
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dont think i would be as in love with what i do had i not met Natalie on a shoot, She showed me very quickly that it is not a fools game to follow what you love. She inspires me everyday to not let go of this silly dream of mine. i think its important if not essential to have another person to know many of the same trials and tribulations that you yourself went through, She is my rock, and my other half,
Another huge role into my photography is one of my best friends Omar Miranda, another photographer as well, Alot of the creative space can grow to be cliquey and selfish, But not with him, he was kind enough to show me the embedded professenial side to the industry and selfless enough to show me the ropes and the oppurtunities that other people would gatekeep, he only wants to see the sucsess of those around him. A good person and a better friend
