Meet Jennifer Frank | Fashion Merchandising Professor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Frank and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be a teacher who is remembered for the impact she left on her students. I want my students to make sure they feel they achieve anything they set their minds to.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career started after college by working in the fashion industry in New York City. As I got older, I moved home to Youngstown, Ohio, and started my teaching career. I believe that my empathy for my students, my patience, and my respectful attitude sets me apart from others in my field. I also am always interested in having a shared learning environment where I learn from my students as well as them learning from me. I am most proud of the work I have done to build a program focused on body positivity within the fashion industry. In 2012, we lost a student, Danielle Peters, to an eating disorder. My students host the EveryBODY Fashion Show every April in Danielle’s memory to raise awareness about eating disorders. Our show features all shapes and sizes on the runway and is a way to take Danielle’s untimely passing and help others struggling with their image and self-worth.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give my shoutout dedication to an unbelievable woman. Her name is Jess Alpert and she gave me my first shot at success in the fashion industry. I interned with her handbag company, World According to Jess, while in college. She taught me so much about not only the fashion industry but about being a mentor and a strong woman.
