We had the good fortune of connecting with Chet & Kayla Jamison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chet & Kayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always wanted to run my own business since I was fairly young. It has always sounded fun and exciting to me. Growing up, my dad ran his own general contracting company and I remember I would hang out at his office, take naps under his desk and play brick breaker on an extra blackberry he had laying around. Those moments of looking up to my dad and being by his side had made a significant impact on me, whether I realize it or not, to start my own business. Along with that, me and my wife Kayla found ourselves wanting to truly do something that we love to do: create. We enjoy seeing things coming to life and helping people in our community. So, we decided to bring those two things together and start a marketing agency with the goal of providing genuine services to local businesses.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The name “EDN Creative” was inspired from the Garden of Eden in the bible, where creativity started. We believe that we were made to be creators like our Maker, and to witness the beauty of life unfold around us. Despite the world’s imperfections, beauty is still everywhere to be seen and we want to be able to create beautiful things for people with faith and purpose. We strive to bring our clients visions to life with intentionality while building relationships with them. For us creativity has been cultivated not just by degrees and certifications, but by dreams and visions that have taken years of practice, some failures, self taught skills, and the desire to stay in awe of what is yet to be created. With that spirit driving us forward, intentionality is the wheel of our business. We want nothing more than our friends and clients to receive the best quality of work and to make their dreams come to life. I believe intentionality paired with the ambition to never stop creating has gotten us where we are today. We aren’t the biggest company in the world, but I think that is why we are special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of our favorite spots have to include coffee. Pettibone in Dayton is our number one destination to have a meaningful conversation over the best coffee or to plug in for a few hours of undisturbed work. You can also find us at Warehouse 4 in Vandalia, Purebred in Troy, or the Brick Rhod Bistro in Lewisburg for a client meeting or to grab an afternoon bite. For the foodies, you don’t want to miss the fried brie and pita from Coco’s Bistro, the exceptional Peruvian dinner at Salar, or Italian perfection at Roost Modern Italian. And lastly, experience the rural magic of Ohio by spending the evening at The Exchange in Pleasant Hill. There you can grab tacos at Vida Taco and compete with friends at axe throwing, cornhole and sand volleyball. Make sure to check their summer schedule and make it out to an evening with special entertainment and live music too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a lot of people I want to give a shoutout to, but one specifically is my dad, Randall Jamison. He has always been a positive influence in my life of business. He is a great leader and role model to my family and others he mentors. He leads with Integrity and faith like no one I have ever seen so a big shoutout goes to him. Another individual I want to shoutout would be my wife, Kayla. She has pushed me and encouraged me to be me and go for things when they seem the most terrifying. She is someone that wants the best for others and I appreciate her seeing the best in me and doing business and life along side me. She is the better half of this business and I don’t know what I would do without her skills in graphic design and leadership.
