Meet Ariel Robbins | Vintage Curator & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Robbins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to work for myself, it was something that I grew more and more passionate about as I felt a disconnect with most of the jobs I have had before.
Before starting Last Word Vintage, I was previously selling on online platforms and was lucky enough to have friends doing the same. One day, I felt like I finally wanted to take the leap and had branding designed for me and started reaching out to find opportunities to host or sell at events!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always had a love and appreciation for vintage, fashion, styling, and glassware but decided to take the leap and take it a little more seriously over the past year. I have been selling clothes online for around 10 years prior with experience in secondhand retail. We named LWV after my favorite cocktail, The Last Word, which originated in Detroit in the 1910’s.
We initially wanted to focus on vintage barware/glassware and a curated rack of vintage to compliment the space we are featured in but grew a lot faster than we expected. Our curated collections range from the late 1920’s depression glassware to funky martini glasses from the early 2000’s and our vintage clothing collections are perfect to pair with any of the glassware sets for a perfect night in or out!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first absolute must is Mid-City for the best duck and rabbit dishes paired with a perfect mellow atmosphere and endless cocktails.
Longfellows and King Pigeon are the perfect ends to any night with the most talented bartenders and small plates.
Youngbuck Deli for the perfect sandwich made with love.
Any dance party with DJ Boywife.
Gabriella Filipina Cantina for soulful Filipino food.
And lastly Ripple Wine Bar for a much needed wine flight with tapas on a sunny day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my partner, Michael, for all of his help and dedication to making my brand a reality.
Carly from No Era, for allowing me to be a part of her shoot and my first ever official styling role.
And a thank you to everyone supporting me and making Last Word Vintage a success
