We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Glick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
In the health and wellness space, it’s very easy to make and market a nutritional supplement, with little to no oversight by the FDA. As a result, there are a tremendous amount of “snake oil salesmen” out there who make outrageous claims, with no data, about the value of their nutritional product. In addition, many companies pay significant sums of money to influencers and podcasters to push their products. As a consumer, it can be confusing on which product to buy and who to trust. That’s why when I co-founded Goode Health, we made it a priority to curate not only the best ingredients, but also back it up through serious science and thoughtful clinical study.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started off as an engineer, but I realized it wasn’t for me. So I went back to school for an MBA and I landed a job at Novartis Animal Health, where I fell in love with health-related products. I spent over a decade at Abbott Nutrition in variety of roles across different brands like Similac, Pedialyte, and Ensure, in the U.S. and abroad. I loved my time there focusing on the three legs of the nutrition industry stool: consumer/patient, healthcare professional and retail. In 2018, I joined a start-up in California that was focused on food allergy prevention where I developed a passion for health start-ups, which ultimately landed me at Goode Health as CEO within the Palm Ventures portfolio. The last couple years have been amazing and we are just getting started!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow – great question! As a Chicagoan who has lived in many places, I’m always focused on what a city can provide for me and my family. I especially like outdoor events/activities in the Columbus area including:
– Going to a Crew game, maybe Clippers, too
– Kayaking in Hoover or fishing at Alum Creek
– Walking Short North on a Friday or Saturday night
– Eating at all my favorite places: Thurmans, Aab, Yannis and Ray Rays.
– Checking out Ohio State (especially during a game)
– Hanging at Pins Mechanical, either Easton or Bridge Park
– Hiking a metro park – High Banks is my favorite
– Biking the trail at Alum Creek
– Attending a concert at Nationwide or the Schott

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shoutout to the amazing team who helped create Goode Health, including Dr. Bob Arnot and Matt Wiant. I’m also grateful for our vendors who help us locate the most nutrient dense superfoods, evaluate them for potency and safety and then turn them into a delicious product to help people people live healthier, longer lives.
