We had the good fortune of connecting with Geri Peacock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Geri, how do you think about risk?
I really enjoy, digging into new things and experiencing change. I don’t always consider this a risk, but some do. Change & risk-taking is a space a prefer . It is an area of personal growth that fulfills me. For my career living in change and risk has forced me to face fears and to try lots of things. It has allowed me to start a new business or two and when one is not viable I begin another. I never see any risk as a fail only a stepping stone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have had a very different background for an entrepreneur. I was incredibly shy, so I forced myself outward. I sold encyclopedias door-to-door in the 90’s, it was awful for a shy person, but it changed me. I then went into outside sales in staffing and recruiting in IT. My career in staffing and recruiting was very cool and I learned to hire huge teams of people for a large staffing firm and I loved it. I learned to speak in front of large crowds, hire huge teams and to build an entire environment of very unique people that share a common goal of personal and professional success. All my professional dreams coming true allowed me to keep up with my personal hobby of baking. In 2008, I found out I had a gluten intolerance and then I decided to marry everything; baking and building teams and here we are. In 2010 I opened Cherbourg Bakery.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Columbus, let’s head straight to German Village and grab a coffee at Staufs. Walk next door to the book loft. Grab a book and walk to Frank Fetch Park. HANGGG its the cutest tiny park. CoGo, drive or walk to the Columbus Museum of Art , It’s tiny but mighty. head back to German Village for dinner outside on the patio at Lindys (best patio in the city) If the next day is an option plan breakfast at Cherbourg Bakery in Bexley and then walk around through Bexley its a living arboretum and Jeffrey Mansion and Park is absolutely stunning. If you have time stop back in German Village and walk around Schiller Park and take in the sculpture art in the sky and the water and hang for Shakespeare in the park. Remember to bring wine and cheese and blanket. Perfect two days accomplished.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you to my Grandmother who taught me that necessity is the mother of invention. To my Mother who taught me how to cream butter. To my children who taught me to believe in Santa Claus again.
