We had the good fortune of connecting with Los Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Los, why did you pursue a creative career?
Wasn’t a matter of choice.
I believe not using the creative tools we have sets us on a path
That leads to internal struggles with sadness.

That said, the path less walked creates it’s own set of obstacles and external
Struggles. But mentally you end up in a better place.
Which gives you a sense of being centered in difficult times and fuels creativity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
On he musical front, What sets me apart is that I’m not Bond by genre.
I write songs and play in bands ranging from Pop, Funk, Rock & Metal.
I’ve toured with Country artist and have performed as the drummer in a dozen or so musicals.

None of it has been easy. In music, you’re often teaming up with other creatives.
So they may have a different vision, even on songs that you’ve written and want to put their stamp on it.

Sometimes it adds to your creation, sometimes it dilutes it. And then you have to communicate how their
vision/creativeness is not adding to yours. Which can be a minefield to maneuver.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

As far as non-chain spots to eat, I’d suggest:
Hound dogs Pizza – great variety of pies on the menu
The Thurman – fantastic + huge burgers
Ray Ray’s BBQ Pit – Ribs & Banana pudding… ‘Nuff said

Places to catch live music & an adult beverage:
Dick’s Den
Ace of Cups
Gabby’s
Eldorado’s

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A singular entity/group would be hard to select.

There’s of course my wife. Who’s given my the freedom, trust and encouragement to pursue my talents.

There’s the Columbus music scene. I’ve worked with a lot of talented musicians that have been a part of making
My songwriting ventures come to fruition, and of course to the stage(s).

There’s the listeners of my radio show. Who have been wonderful with their feedback and suggesting the show to their friends on social media.

Lastly, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not someone that spends a lot of time reading. But a book that inspired me is
The Art of War.
Because if you take the mindset of being strategic in conquering opponents and obstacles in your path, rather than just rushing into battle and Hoping for the best. You’re more likely to accumulate wins and less of a sense of failure if things don’t go your way.
