Meet Tecca Thompson | Collective Care Facilitator | Motivational Storyteller|Space Holder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tecca Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tecca, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Sacred Healing Spaces, our work is rooted in the belief that rest and healing are not luxuries but essential acts of restoration for individuals and communities. By creating spaces for Black women to rest, heal, and reconnect with their fullest selves, we are offering a profound gift to humanity. This work is not about division; it is about recognizing the unique burdens Black women carry and providing them the support they need to thrive. When Black women have access to rest and healing, they can fully embody their gifts, pouring that strength and creativity back into their families, communities, and society as a whole.
We recognize that our country stands at a critical threshold, facing the need for systemic change and collective healing. For this transformation to occur, everyone must be operating at their fullest capacity, grounded in their purpose and potential. This is why we partner with community-based organizations and front-line care providers, offering them spaces of rest and reconnection. These individuals are the backbone of thriving ecosystems, and by supporting their well-being, we contribute to healthier, safer communities.
Our mission is both personal and communal: to remind people that healing and rest are radical acts of care that ripple outward, transforming not just the individual but the world around them. By tending to the hearts, minds, and bodies of those who hold our communities together, we plant the seeds for a future where all of us can flourish.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sacred Healing Spaces LLC was born out of a deep calling to create spaces of rest, healing, and transformation specifically for Black women and Women of Color. What sets us apart is our unique approach to healing justice that blends somatics, breathwork, and interactive storytelling. We prioritize nervous system awareness and regulation as the foundation for meaningful, lasting healing. Our work isn’t just about individual self-care—it’s about collective care, holding space for each other, and fostering a sense of belonging.
What excites me most is witnessing the transformation that happens when women reconnect with their bodies, reclaim their rest, and release the weight of external expectations. Whether it’s through community programs, healing retreats, or educational workshops, seeing someone soften into themselves is truly magical. In addition to working with individuals, we bring this same transformative care to community-based organizations and their clients. By supporting both the providers and the communities they serve, we help foster resilience and sustainable well-being on a larger scale.
The journey here hasn’t been easy. After retiring early from 33 years of public service, I pivoted into this work, driven by both my personal healing and a desire to empower others. I’ve faced challenges—navigating the balance between rest and building a business, finding ways to introduce somatics in communities unfamiliar with it, and managing self-doubt. Yet, I overcame these hurdles through perseverance, leaning into my values, and reminding myself that my work aligns with my purpose.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that healing doesn’t have to be harsh or forceful—it can be soft, intentional, and tender. Another is that rest is not a reward for hard work; it is a right and a necessity, especially for Black women who have carried so much for so long.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is this: Black women deserve to feel held, seen, and heard. Sacred Healing Spaces is not just a business; it’s a movement towards collective liberation through rest and embodiment. My story is one of resilience, transformation, and reclamation, and my mission is to build a community of Black women seeking who seeking the same.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’’d start the day with breakfast or brunch at Hangover Easy, a classic diner-style spot known for its hearty breakfast burritos and French toast, or at Fox in the Snow Café, where you can savor their freshly brewed coffee and pastries in a cozy, minimalist setting.
For lunch, I’d recommend Can’t Believe It’s Vegan, a fantastic spot for plant-based comfort food like mac and cheese, wings, and loaded fries.
Since I enjoy nature, I’d suggest exploring one of the Columbus Metro Parks. Some of my favorites include Highbanks Metro Park for its scenic overlooks, Scioto Audubon Metro Park for trails along the river, or Inniswood Metro Gardens, where you can walk peaceful paths surrounded by vibrant flowers and greenery. For a more adventurous outing, Hocking Hills State Park is just a short drive away and features stunning rock formations, waterfalls, and breathtaking trails.
For relaxation and self-care, I’d highly recommend booking a spa treatment at Replenish: The Spa Co-op, a serene space offering holistic wellness services. They also offer amazing Sunday morning yoga classes
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tamika Vinson Reid (founder), Marian Stuckey, and Whitney Gherman, founders and members of The Delaware African American Heritage Council, Inc.
The DAAHC was our first community partnership for a collective rest and interactive storytelling experience. Soon after that first event, with the support of the women mentioned and their word-of-mouth marketing, momentum and a tremendous amount of brand credibility ignited for Sacred Healing Spaces. Thank you; we are grateful.
