We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana VanDenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea for this store was born from a deep desire to serve my community. About three years ago, the thought first crossed my mind—to create a space where people could access cleaner, safer products. At the time, I was newly pregnant and finishing up my Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, so the dream had to wait.

But it never left me.

As time went on, I found myself increasingly drawn to the idea. I spent hours researching the harmful ingredients commonly found in everyday products and became passionate about sharing that knowledge and sharing cleaner alternatives. The more I learned, the more it weighed on my heart—not just for myself, but for my family, my neighbors, and everyone in my community.

I realized there were so many people around me who wanted better options, but didn’t have easy access to them. That’s when I knew: it was time to turn that long-standing idea into reality.

This store is more than a business—it’s a mission. A way to bring wellness, transparency, and intention into the everyday lives of the people I care about most

What should our readers know about your business?
What Sets Luisa’s Natural Goods Apart

Of course, there are other stores with a focus on natural living—but what sets Luisa’s Natural Goods apart is our commitment to both quality and community. Not only do we carry some of the top natural and non-toxic brands on the market, but we also proudly partner with a wide variety of local businesses that we genuinely believe in.

Every product on our shelves has been personally tested or used by us—we stand behind everything we offer. And we’re especially proud of our partnerships with a few standout small businesses that truly make our shop unique:

Sweet & Sour Bakery – our supplier of fresh, organic sourdough baked goods

Vetter Plant Co. – bringing in lush, healthy houseplants

Amazzzing Bees – our trusted source for delicious local honey

Since opening our doors on March 1st, 2025, we’ve been steadily growing—and we’re just getting started. We’ve got some exciting projects in the works that we can’t wait to share with the community!

My vision for Luisa’s is to become a true one-stop shop for all things natural, organic, and non-toxic, filled with brands and makers who align with our values of integrity, sustainability, and wellness.

The Journey

I won’t say opening this store has been “easy”—but I will say I’ve felt guided from the very beginning. I truly believe God has had His hand in this. When I started, I had no idea how to launch or run a business. So, I picked a starting point and moved forward from there.

Step one was finding a location—and that’s when I discovered the perfect spot in Historic Downtown Canal Fulton. I reached out to inquire, and was met with kindness and encouragement that exceeded anything I expected. The landlords even held the space for a few days while I made my decision—something that meant more to me than they’ll ever know. That simple act gave me the confidence to say “yes.”

From that point on, so many moments have felt like more than coincidence. Every step forward has been met with support, positivity, and purpose.

Why I Do This

This journey wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of my family—and the guidance I’ve received just by listening to my community. From the very beginning, I’ve leaned on both to shape what this store is today.

If motherhood has taught me anything, it’s the value of presence. I take each day one step at a time, and find joy in the process. At the heart of it all, I’m here to serve my community, to offer something meaningful, and to create a space that supports healthier, more intentional living.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Canal Fulton is a hidden gem! It’s so cute, quaint and there’s always something going on downtown! First, we would grab a delicious coffee and enjoy the friendly faces at The Speakeasy and make our way down to the Monastic Home for the most unique and dedicant treats that take your tastebuds on trip to Italy. Next, relax at the park bench or check out the mural in Canal Fulton, perhaps even The Little Toy Store because we’re all children at heart. When hunger strikes, we heading over to the Canal Boat Lounge for their delicious chicken wrap and house-cut fries! We can then make our way over to the Livery to rent a canoe to boat down the river! Luckily, the Livery offers a shuttle service to bring you right back to Canal Fulton! We then will grab dinner and drinks with the locals at the Barrel Room and finish our night with TrailBusters from Cherry Street Creamery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few very special people I want to dedicate this shoutout to.

First and foremost, my parents.
No matter how big or crazy my dreams have been, they’ve always responded with encouragement and the question: “What can we do to help?” Their support has never wavered. When it came to launching Luisa’s Natural Goods, they were there every step of the way. My mom helps with the day-to-day operations at the store and even stayed up past midnight with me the night before our grand opening, inputting products into our inventory system. My dad built the most beautiful checkout counter you’ve ever seen—and never hesitates when I ask him to drive across Ohio to pick up furniture I found on Facebook Marketplace. At every event, they’re there from start to finish, pitching in wherever they can. I truly have the most supportive parents, and I feel endlessly blessed to have them.

Next, my amazing husband.
We met in 2019, right as I began my journey toward a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. From day one, he has been supportive of every ambition I’ve had. What I appreciate most about him is how he challenges me to think things through. I tend to dive in headfirst, and he’s always there with thoughtful questions and a fresh perspective—helping me consider angles I may have missed. His insight has helped me grow in more ways than I can count.

And finally, my sweet daughter, Viviana.
She is the heart behind everything I do. Becoming her mother is what inspired me to start paying closer attention to the ingredients in our everyday products—and that curiosity led to the birth of this store. She motivates me to be my best self, to work hard, and to build something meaningful. Everything I do is with her future in mind, to show her that she can pursue whatever dreams she has with confidence and purpose.
