We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexa, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My view of work-life balance has definitely evolved over the years. In the beginning, I thought balance meant trying to give 100% to everything, all the time—business, kids, relationships, health. But that’s not sustainable, and honestly, it’s not realistic. What I’ve learned is that balance doesn’t always mean equal. It means being present where your feet are and adjusting your energy based on what season you’re in.

There have been times I’ve leaned heavily into work because that’s what was needed to grow. And other times, I’ve had to pull back and pour more into my family or myself. Now, I approach balance more like a rhythm. I ask myself: ‘What matters most right now?’ and I give myself permission to let go of what isn’t urgent. That shift has helped me show up better in every area of my life, without the constant guilt.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At The Diet Doc Movement, we specialize in individualized, flexible nutrition coaching rooted in science—but grounded in real life. What sets us apart is how personal we make the process. We don’t do cookie-cutter meal plans or one-size-fits-all approaches. Instead, we get to know our clients, their lifestyles, their stressors, and their goals—then we help them create something sustainable. We’re proud of how we meet people where they are, teach them the “why” behind nutrition, and empower them to reach their goals without giving up the foods—and the life—they love.

We’re most excited about the team we’re building and the ripple effect that comes from it. It’s not just about macros and weight loss—it’s about confidence, energy, and self-respect showing up in every area of our clients’ lives. Watching that transformation never gets old.

Getting to this point hasn’t been easy. Like most business owners, we’ve faced seasons of doubt, burnout, growing pains, and trial and error. But we leaned into each other, kept showing up, and most importantly—stayed rooted in our mission to help people live their best, healthiest life without extremes. The biggest lesson we’ve learned? You don’t need to be perfect—you just need to be consistent. That goes for business and for nutrition.

What we want the world to know is that this isn’t just a business to us—it’s personal. We care deeply. We cheer hard. And we lead from experience. We’ve walked through our own journeys with food, mindset, and body image—and that’s why we do things differently. Diet Doc isn’t just a brand—it’s a movement.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to town, we’d keep it fun, laid-back, and full of good vibes. We’d take a little drive out to the lake for sunshine and chill time, get a workout in at Anytime Fitness, and grab lunch at The Social House—one of Lima’s newest gems. A stop at Kewpee would be a must, even just for the experience. We’d sip coffee, catch up on the porch, and wrap up the trip with a quiet dinner at Mara’s—a cozy little house-turned-restaurant with great wine and an even better atmosphere. It’s less about doing everything and more about being present in the moments that matter.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We owe a huge shoutout to Dr. Joe Klemczewski, the founder of The Diet Doc. His vision, leadership, and heart for education laid the foundation for everything we’re able to do today. His evidence-based approach to sustainable, flexible dieting—and the systems he built—have empowered us to help others transform their lives without extremes.

We also want to recognize our incredible team of Diet Doc coaches. Each one brings their own unique experience, perspective, and heart to the mission. Watching our team grow and seeing how they pour into their clients has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

To our clients, our families, and the communities we serve—thank you. Every story shared and every step forward motivates us to keep showing up and leading with purpose. And of course, we’re beyond grateful for the partnership we’ve built with each other. We challenge one another, we balance each other’s strengths, and that synergy has made this work even more impactful.

Success is never a solo project, and we’re thankful for every person and principle that continues to shape ours.
