Meet Alexa Nause | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Nause and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that I wanted to dictate my life. If I wanted a weekend off for my kids, I could take it. If I wanted to take a trip, I could take it. I didn’t want someone to tell me where to be and when; I get to say that. I have complete control of my schedule and that to me should be the driving force for all people. Yes I have deadlines and work long hours but it’s for myself and my family, not anyone else.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art to me takes a new form every time a client steps in front of my camera. Each client brings uniqueness to my art that I strive to reflect. I’m most excited about my growth. I have been in photography one way or another for 15 years; having kids and moving states i put my art on the back burner and november of 2022 i officially launched my business and now work full time bringing my art to my clients. Some things i’ve learned is that not everyone is going to support you, even those close to you and it’s ok. You have to do what makes sense for you and brings you joy, even on the tough days.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First place we would head to is downtown Cincinnati. Our city has such a unique and beautiful skyline. Being able to walk the river or on the bridges into Newport and Covington and see such rich and beautiful architecture. Head to dinner at E+O Kitchen near Paycor Stadium. Heading to Finlay Market.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my Mom. She has supported me in all my endeavors as a small business owner fully and whole heartedly.
