Meet Alison Epp | Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Epp and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alison, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Recently I went through a major change. A little background about me, I have a fashion design degree. I moved to NYC to pursue that in 2017. I worked in the industry for a few years and during covid made the change to social media management. I always had my own social media platforms and locked in my first full time role for a major brand in 2022. As of this past August, I am officially a full time content creator. This has been a dream of mine forever. I started watching YouTubers and beauty gurus in college and admired the lifestyle and always wanted to create a name for myself on social media.
With ALL of that being said— fashion school, living in nyc, balancing different jobs and several social media platforms, created a non stop busy bee in me. If I didn’t work on my craft (social media) every single day, I felt like a failure. Which is the furthest from the truth. And now, since this is my full time job, I am definitely learning about balance. Having structure and a schedule is very important to me and helps me get some balance. When you make your own schedule and ESPECIALLY when you do social media, it is really hard to find balance. The constant need to create, stay updated with trends, and now this being my main/only source of income creates a constant battle to find balance. I have created healthy boundaries and given lots of grace over the years by reminding myself that what is for me, won’t miss me and the right people will stay/follow the journey no matter what I do.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a content creator and I specialize in all things social media. Like I previously stated, I have been doing it for a while now and it has definitely hasn’t been overnight success. I truly love all of the processes during content creation. From the creative process/filming, editing, posting and engaging with community— I love it all. I am really excited to take on this journey as a full time content creator and to see the opportunities that arise from all these years of hard work. There are lots of challenges that come with doing social media/content creation. You have to be consistent and there truly has to be a passion behind it to drive that consistency. Which is probably one of my most FAQ’s. I truly love this, it is my passion and that has what has kept me going/consistent. Like most people with their art, you have to be truly passionate or it won’t last. My favorite thing about what I do is the community I’ve built along the way. The sweet comments/messages I get is what truly keeps me going and makes it all worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Cincinnati and everything about this city!
Some of my favorite places—
Coffee: Coffee Emporium, Brown Bear Bakery, Deeper Roots, Haven Cafe, Urbana Cafe, Lola’s Coffee
Food: Sotto, Jeff Ruby’s, Pepp and Dolores, Via Vite, ADeep Indian, Losanti, The Eagle, Alcove, The Bagelry, Sugar & Sprice, Baru, Maplewood, Sacred Beast, Pho Lang

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one! I have so many creators I look up to that constantly inspire me to keep going. But I think the one thing that comes to mind is my community. I truly wouldn’t be in the position that I am without the CONSTANT support from them. I have people who have been here from the very beginning and people who have just joined my journey and I am truly so grateful. Because of their constant love and engagement/support, it has helped me grow so much and get noticed by brands which is STILL such a dream for me.
