We had the good fortune of connecting with Allan Kofman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
To experience something you haven’t experienced, you have to try things you’ve never done. If we stay in our comfort zone, we’re not going to grow and evolve. Risk taking and sacrifices are a natural part of having a business. By taking a risk, we’re diving into the unknown and that part can be particularly terrifying. A lot of people don’t want to take risks because there is a chance for failure but once the perspective and relationship with “failure” shifts, then so do other things including risk taking. Taking risks has been a huge part of my life and journey both on a personal level and professional level and it’s with taking risks (sometimes calculated, sometimes reckless), I have gained experience and knowledge from it which to me are very valuable.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am both a DJ and event producer based in Columbus. I’ve very passionate about music and creating top tier experiences for people. I first started as a DJ and then transitioned into event production. Even though I have DJ’d in a lot of different settings, the majority of the environments are centered around transformational, intentional and conscious events- events done with a purpose and are alcohol-free. This allows people to be in a more present state of mind and allows them to be connected with others and with the actual experience. My personal events are also rooted in the same way- alcohol free and centered around connection and consciousness. I’m most proud of people being able to show up as their authentic selves and have a good time (often euphoric times) without needing anything else.

My journey has been a long one. I’ve wasted a lot of time wishing for things and not creating action. Once I did start creating some action, it still took time. But once in a while, I’d get lucky and meet certain people who gave priceless opportunities and allowed me to grow and evolve.

One lesson I learned is that it’s really important to show up- for yourself and others. No matter how seemingly small something may seem (a gig or a client), you never know who you might meet or what opportunity could present itself. No matter how big or small something is, it’s important to show up and give it your all.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my mission and goal is to create safe, intentional and transformation experiences for others. That’s done through music, various healing modalities and through the essence of community/connection with others.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh man, there’s so many people who have played both a big role and a smaller role that have impacted my life in such a positive and productive way. First and foremost, my parents who have sacrificed so much and have given endless love and support even when things didn’t necessarily make sense for them. I also want to give a big shout out to Ecstatic Dance Columbus and its founders for giving me a shot. It’s because of them that I am here where I am today. And I also want to give a shout out to my previous partner Armani who was there with me from basically the start and has also provided so much love and support. All of those people and groups hold a very special place in my heart and have supported me in such a huge way.
