We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what makes you happy? Why?
Painting makes me happy, not only for myself, but for others. If my work can brighten someone’s day or change their mood, it inspires me to continue. If I am unhappy with the end result in a painting I’ve completed, 9 times out of 10, someone else likes it, and it changes my entire outlook of the finished piece. As an artist, we find flaws in our own work that others find the beauty in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets you apart from others? – What sets me apart from others is that I paint what my mood reflects. That could be a sad day which would possibly incorporate crashing waves or a thunderstorm, or it could reflect peace which could possibly incorporate stars or a lake.

What you are most proud of or excited about?
– I’m excited about what the next finished peace is going to whisper to the person that sees it. For example, I finished a painting and all I saw was a mess and needed improvements, but someone else saw a load of fall trees losing their leaves and that mess was natural. I’m proud to be able to accomplish that for someone.

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
-I got to where I am today by not giving up on what I wanted. It wasn’t easy. The challenges are always there; My critical self: “That tree doesn’t look right. ” My hard-headed self: “Well, scrape it off and do it again!” You can always start over, add to it, take away, or scrap it and do it again. It’s only a failure if you call it one. I have learned many lessons along the way. I’ve learned that if you give up, you’ll never reach your goal. I took a lot of advice from Bob Ross growing up. My dad would turn on the TV and say, “Here, watch the painter guy. Maybe you can paint something neat.” Every message Bob Ross gave during his broadcast stuck with me, and I live up to them to this day. It sounds odd, but seriously, he wasn’t wrong!

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that the moment your paint brush touches the canvas, you’re an artist. And if you’re not a painter, the moment you complete a project, you’ve succeeded. You always win and what you see may be different from what others see. I see happiness for someone else when I complete a painting. If they love it, I love that they love it, so I love it as well.

I’m currently working on a business website. At Fartsy Artsy Unlimited you’ll be able to view a gallery of completed projects! Please stay tuned!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The day should be spent in stress free enjoyable environments. For myself, a small cafe or a mom and pop restaurant would be ideal, then lets hit up some art galleries! There are never enough art galleries! A good walk in the park would open my mind up for more painting ideas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my family for all of their support and encouragement. Their thoughts, opinions and encouragement for me to continue painting is what keeps me going. My dad, who first introduced me to my hero, Bob Ross on television, my mom who gives me the BEST ideas for extra details in my work, my brothers, Gerald (DJ) and Christopher for their encouragement and support, my children, Brandon, Ryan, and Nolan, and my beloved side-kick, Nick. Each and every one of these people keep me believing!
