Meet Amanda Novena | Wedding Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Novena and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
A book I’ve read recently that has made an impact on me is The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It teaches some principles about being successful beyond earning money. The main concept of this book is that the more you give without the agenda of getting something in return the more successful you’ll be. This really validated how I run my business as my goal with every client is to serve them beyond what they have hired me specifically for. It also gave me some ideas on things I can do better or start doing to make provide an even better experience for my clients.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a wedding photographer for the timeless, joy-filled couple. My work is classic and bright. I want people to be able to look at my photographs for years and not be able to tell when it was taken based on the style of photography alone. I tend to shy away from anything overly trendy when it comes to posing or how I capture the story of a wedding day. It took a lot of work to get where I’m at with my skills. I practice as much as I can, I believe there is always room for improvement. I also study other forms of art for inspiration and take multiple classes from other photographers to develop my skills.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have them come in the summer so that we could do something really fun during the week like go to Cedar Point. Locally, I think I’d take them to Pins for some fun drinks and mini bowling and we’d grab some Conados before hand to fill up on tacos and margaritas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people I could thank, it’s so hard to narrow it down! But I would definitely give a big thanks to Courtney Cannon of the Cannons Photography. She has been mentoring me the past few months as being a member in her mastermind. She has really been a good role model on what it means to serve people well. She also has made a really big impact on changing my mindset when it come to all things business and my success with it and exactly what it means to be successful.
