Meet Anece Rochell | Author/Writer & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anece Rochell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anece, how does your business help the community?
The uplifting messages in my books help bring empowerment to our communities. When I started Beautiful Minds Publishing, I vowed to write and publish books that not only entertain but inspire and help bring change to this upcoming generation and the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Writing is an art and my true passion. I have so many ideas, books, scripts, and songs swirling in my head. What makes me different as a writer is my nonconventional imagination. I’ll take you to places you didn’t see coming.
I’m so excited and proud on my newly released young adult fantasy novel, entitled, The Indigent : Book of Aniyas. It’s so entertaining, magical, adventurous, mysteries, but it’s also empowering and touches on real life issues that POC face daily.
I’ve added puzzles, and match card games to my children’s book brand, so I’m also excited about that.
Getting to this point in my career came from me adapting the mindset, that I won’t give up, no matter what obstacles come my way.
It has not been easy at times, financially or mentally. I still face challenges with some people accepting the unapologetic messages in my books, but that won’t stop me from writing on topics I feel the world needs. I will always keep pushing to reach the youth.
The biggest lesson I learned is to believe in myself, and to keep going no matter what. There will be people out there that see, understand your vision, and support it.
I would like the world to know that I’m truly out here trying to make a change and their support means the world to me!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So, this is not a great question to ask me lol. I’m an introvert/homebody. I really don’t go anywhere in my city (but I’m trying to change that). I do like to travel out of my state though. Let me think, I would take them to some good “mom and pop” soul food spots, I love soul food. I’ve been eating at a place called Heavy on the Sidez a lot lately, so I would take them there. Maybe find a live band somewhere, but for the most part we would eat a lot lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son, for being one of the inspirations for my children’s book series. My dad, for supporting me as I pursue my writing and business goals. My bestfriend Desmond for always offering a helping hand, and my dearest childhood friend Carl, for his encouragement and unwavering and continued support.
