We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelique Wong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelique, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think you know if you should keep going if you’re able to adjust your perception of success. Success can be measured in many metrics such as followers, likes, financials, clients, hiring someone, etc. If you do not have one way you view success such as money, you’re guaranteed to fail and feel compelled to give up. Sometimes we forget that, we must be open to change to better understand the specifics of our ventures. It may not look like what you imagined and it could be a success but trying something may also help you realize that it’s not a viable idea.

What should our readers know about your business?
I wanted to give smaller businesses a better chance at success by helping them understand and implement social media strategies. A lot of my clients are people who aren’t familiar with social media, don’t have the time to learn and manage it, or are businesses that came before social media but now want to advance their business to stay relevant.

I had to really be intentional about how I structure the packages to still be profitable and successful for clients. I struggled with boundaries and wanting to provide my clients with access to information and t be prompt in my response and actions. I had to give myself the same empathy I teach.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots to visit if I had to show some of my out-of-town friends my home are in a variety of cities including Kent, Cleveland, Beachwood, and Canton! In the Cleveland Area, I love attending shows and dinners in Playhouse Square. There is a nice variety of restaurants around there. I would head to 16 Bit Bar + Arcade and Choolaah, a super yummy Indian restaurant across the street. My final stop would be City Goods. It’s a collaborative retail space with multiple small businesses including my clothing brand Artuza. It’s a great way to support small businesses and shop for unique, locally crafted products. Near Beachwood, I would visit the Pinecrest area. They have a range of shops, movie theaters, and restaurant options.
In Kent, We would go to the Midway Drive-In Theatre, ride scooters around Downtown Kent, do a bar crawl on a Friday night, and visit the Fashion Museum. I’m also a big fan of the Haymakers Farmers Market.
In Canton, we would visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame and get dinner at one of my favorite restaurants Basil Asain Bistro.

Since I commute to work and spend a lot of time in Cleveland for my clothing brand, I have quite a few cities and things I love throughout North Eastern Ohio.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Launchnet at Kent State University was and is a huge part of my success as an entrepreneur. It has given me a community of entrepreneurs, a safe space to express frustrations and ask questions, and access to funding and information to enhance my business and give back to my community. As a student, I was a client and employee. As an alumni, I can still take advantage of that support and give back to a community that nurutred me.
