We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Katyal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita Katyal, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and brought up in New Delhi, India. I am in awe of the diversity and wide spectrum of Indian culture, its cuisine and different flavors. Growing up, we had a lot of family friends and neighbors from different ethnicity and cultural backgrounds. So i got exposure to a wide array of food flavors, preparations, cooking styles and tastes. I try to follow the same diversity in my food preparations and am guilty of riding the nostalgic train when i am actually preparing something right now. As an example, I prepared for one of our traditional recipe which reminded me of my time in native place wherein my mom used to prepare this for me and my cousins

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am proud of my journey because being an IT professional which was in deviation from my current pursuits. I think artistic or creatives career originate less from a want and more from an inherent call towards that art/creative form. In my case, a passion and enjoyment I get in creating recipes came first which transforming into a career. I hope the passion and enjoyment as I am moving forward in this quest

traversing new path will always have some challenges like identifying the next steps which i have to resolve to move forward

herhealthypalate is my journey of culinary skills and changing of perception of people about healthy food is much more than a salads and boiled food .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am living in Cincinnati region from past 7+ years and love the overall vibe of city. If I have to plan a week in and around Cincinnati, I will probably include below in my itinerary
Cincinnati old city charm with Germán architecture in and around Over the Rhine region and a stroll through Findlay market. It boasts of some great shops and places to try different food options like the Arepa place and Dean’s Mediterranean.. OTR also has a lot of great spots of different cuisine. For the parents of young kids, King’s Island near my home is the perfect spot. It is one of the largest amusement park & water park combo in Midwest and has something to entertain people of all ages. I definitely love to grab a Cincinnati favorite La Rosa pizza slice and sit in international street specially during night watching King’s island fireworks. Cincinnati riverfront waterpark is another great place to hang out with a combination of a couple of hours on Cincinnati riverboats and a stroll across the walking bridge to Newport on the leeve in Kentucky across the river. My husband’s favorite brewery Moerlein lager house is on Cincinnati side and there is a tomate and cheese melt join Tom+Chee (This entrepreneurial venture was also a contestant in Shark Tank). I also like grabbing a patio spot in Cancum Mexican bar and grill and enjoy dinner with family with a twilight view of Cincinnati skyline across the river in evening.
Cincinnati being a city with many sports fan, I would definitely plan a gameday with our favorite Bengals in Paycor or The Great american ball park for reds game. I like a lot of spots near downtown to grab a bite but definitely don’t miss my sweet cravings for newly opened Paris baguette. My daughter and husband are big fans of FC Cincinnati so another gameday at TQL stadium along with pre-game events in Washington park are a must visit for Soccer fans.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So far, I have not ventured into any direct mentorship from anyone but the support and encouragement from fellow Instagram’s influencer in food blogging space and in general community love and feedback has kept me going . I also acknowledge the followers on my page who are very appreciative and drive me to continue learning and growing

My husband and daughter plays huge part in this journey as they are one who encourage me to be better version in culinary skills and of course they are the first line of defence in all my experimentation
