We had the good fortune of connecting with Atari Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Atari, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business came from not wanting to work for anyone, or from not wanting to be on anyone else’s time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart? Simple: it’s the passion. Sure, getting paid for what I do is fantastic, but the truth is, I was knee-deep in my craft long before the checks started rolling in. The money? Just a bonus that tagged along.

My real pride comes from my ability to adapt. Being independent means constantly evolving and reshaping your brand, which, believe it or not, is a blast. How did I get here? By being that annoying person who asks too many questions—and then actually finds the answers. It’s not a walk in the park, but when you’re driven by passion, you’ll figure out how to make it work.

Challenges? Oh, I’ve had my share. But persistence is key. Just because one door closes doesn’t mean the world’s out of doors—it’s a big place, after all. The biggest lessons I’ve learned? Accept criticism, but stay true to who you are. Just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean your work isn’t solid. Also, give yourself some credit; good things take time.

What do I want the world to know? My brand is one of a kind. So, come with an open mind, and you won’t be disappointed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week-long trip, I’d tell my friends to hit up the Flats for some nice bars, food, and the FWD boat club, where the party rolls on day and night in downtown Cleveland. Then, head over to Edgewater Beach, check out the Contemporary Art Museum, and stroll down W6th Street for even more clubs and bars. Oh, and don’t forget the Botanical Gardens—because a little nature never hurt anyone.
