Meet Awrylo Jones | Glass Artist/Music Maker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Awrylo Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Awrylo, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Expect the unexpected” I don’t know who said if first, but I first heard that quote from the old tv show “Kung Fu” and it stuck with me ever since. I think it’s a good saying to keep in your mind as you go through life. Most of us have lives where things can go wrong and there isn’t a ton we can do to fight it off. Things go south sometimes, but if you don’t panic and just handle your troubles. They will go a lot easier. Mostly cause you were expecting them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well after nearly a decade of grinding at what I do. I feel I truly carved a identity with what I do. Which I think comes with any creative medium after a length of time. And how I got there was by not giving up. Despite how confusing and difficult things can seem. You just gotta keep on pushing and cruising on through all the goofiness life throws in your way. As cliche as it is to say this at this point. You gotta believe in yourself first, then you can keep walking to your goal.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Man well first we should eat Taqueria Mixteca which is the local bomb mexican spot. I’m gonna suggest you get the taco salad. Then we may hit the Neon for that Cult Movie Monday action and definitely get a lot of hiking or bike riding in. I live in Ohio so the nature is one of its best assets. Probably take you to see some live music if something cool is going on. I feel like somewhat standard fare for what you see in a new place. But more fun cause you have my crazy ass as your guide.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yo shout out to Aaron Jewwit for taking me in as an apprentice in glass 8 years ago. Without him giving me that chance odds are I would never be blowing glass. Also shout out to Nathan Peters for taking me into a recording studio for the first time and showing me how to structure a song! Thos guys both deserve some recognition for that! Plus, shout out to all my family, friends and fans who support me over all these years. Y’all really keep me going.
