Meet Benjamin Rockow | Freelance Artist & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Benjamin Rockow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Benjamin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was simple really. I wanted to create art and imagery for the people and the world around me. More specifically I wanted to make acquiring these images easy, affordable and eye catching all while sticking within the specification my clients set for me and my creative choices, I attended art college and I improved on my understanding of art forms and the presentation of my talents. Around 2008-2009, just a year after graduating college, I started performing music live and I have continued to do some form of music to this day. When pushing my brand of creativity, be it music or another form, I wanted to stand out and help others stand out. Logos and imagery promotion came in handy, connected me closer to the performing art scenes and helped make me a bit of side income while I fine tuned my business model and client base. This mindset has never changed and I have continued helping repeat clients and new creative faces for years now. I may not perform as much as I once did but my art style can still be seen live through the creativeness of others!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d like to think my process of creating logos and imagery for people is far more inviting, simple and precise to my clients needs. I tend to keep my rates flat, competitive and accommodating. I’ve received many complements with these standards.
I suppose I’m just proud to help others stand out with whatever medium they’re chasing. I do get excited to start on projects for a new clients. I want to help make their brand shine! It’s a great feeling to find an end result while involving them throughout the creative process. It’s even a better feeling when you see it on stage at a live concert or appreciated by my clients via social media. This means to me I did a fine job in their eyes.
I got to where I’m at currently by connecting with other creative artist and busting my ass. Growing up around the music scenes in Columbus and Cleveland Ohio gave me plenty of opportunities to let my creativeness get involved. I improve and learned more techniques with a lot of repetition and reinventing. It wasn’t always easy and I didn’t always get it the first time but I continued to grind at it. You have to be accommodating to change and in-brace it to push forward. That is the lesson earned.
I want people to know that I am here as their creative outlet. As a reliable and relatable artist. I have a passion for art, imagery and music and I give my total effort every time. There’s always the things we have to do to survive in this life but never lose the things you want to do with your life. That’s what defines our journeys.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, being from northeast Ohio I would defiantly take them out to a Cleveland ball game. It’s quit the experience whether it’d be football, baseball or any other live event. The fan base is pretty connected and humble. It’s often like the biggest family gathering you’ve ever been to!
Before hand though we’d hit up one of the many downtown restaurants. So many great places to try out but I’d recommend a place I went to recently called Nano Brew Cleveland. Good food and a nice downtown setting. Also, 16-bit Bar and Arcade. Buy a drink at this place and play some games! Like a blast from the past get your retro gaming on at 1 of the many old school standing arcade machines. Takes me back to being a child. Defiantly a must!
A trip to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame would be a great after game event or even the Football Hall of Fame right down the street to Canton. And did I say rock n roll? There’s so many concert venues in this area that your bound to catch the next big act or just enjoy some good camaraderie. There’s plenty of things to see and do all day around these parts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
JT Maske! This man has been a strong force in and out of my life for over a decade now. A drummer, a guitarist, a basest, an artist and a good ass friend. The man does a little bit of everything! And let me tell you, what a hard working and compassionate guy. Once he gets his mind into something he really goes 100%, always. His creative thinking was the result of some of my most creative art pieces and he has been there for me on more than one occasion. Band mates for life!
