We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Sullivan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Billy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Generally speaking, the music business is all about taking risks. In the beginning when you’re young, making music was all that mattered and it was fun. Live music in Cleveland in the 70’s was big business so you had to have that mindset. Like any business, you reach for goals. I am fortunate that I was able to maintain a living by playing music. It’s been my occupation since 1975. The only time I wasn’t employed was the pandemic, thankfully like most of my musical colleagues, I was able to get back working.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Like I said in the description, professional musician. You need some level of talent to pursue a professional music career, but also you need persistence, and most importantly, humility

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I highly recommend the Orchard Restaurant in Catawba. I know it’s not in Cleveland but it’s a short one hour and ten minute drive west of Cleveland

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to start with my mother. She was very musically inclined. Although she never pursued a music career,, she had the talent to do so. What Mom lets her teenage son play in nightclubs and go on the road? Also would credit my loving wife Debbie.
