We had the good fortune of connecting with Blonde Vanity and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blonde, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
In the 6 years I’ve been involved in this art form, drag has gone from a hobby that I had a passion for, to a full time career that pays my bills. With that have come sacrifices to my sleep schedule, my social calendar and an increased awareness of my spending, drag related or otherwise.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started doing drag 6 years ago in local gay bars across Columbus. I didn’t take it very seriously at first, I was having fun at open stage shows while drinking with friends. Over time, I started learning how to make hair, costumes, and jewelry for myself, and in 2021 I joined the cast of Axis nightclub and Union Cafe in the Short North. Since, then I’ve been doing drag non-stop, going full-time in April of that year and hustling to improve my craft quickly and in my unique style. I’ve opened for real housewife Sonja Morgen’s traveling variety show, opened for the “Don’t Tell” comedy tour, and even appeared in several news interviews regarding the potential drag bans in cities across America.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Axis Nightclub, Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce, Cazuela’s on north High, Boscoe’s, Otherworld, Katalina’s, Franklin Park Conservatory, The Go Go

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Eden Apple is a local drag entertainer who specifically sings live every performance, and she’s an INCREDIBLE singer. She’s only been performing for two years, and last month she qualified to compete at Miss Gay America 2024, the largest female impersonation pageant in the United States. She’s going places fast!
