Meet Brittany Holland-Banks | Entrepreneur and philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Holland-Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Honey Rush because so many people compliment me on having great skin. They would always ask “what your skincare routine?”. So I was talking to my boyfriend at the time and he put the idea in my head to start my own skincare line. I was always making him use my products at home, and his skin changed drastically. So I went from there.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The start of me becoming an entrepreneur definitely wasn’t on my mind when I started, but I always say God knew I was supposed to be more than who I thought I was envisioned myself to be. My mother is mentally ill, she wasn’t always like this, but when I was in the 6th grade she had a mental break down. Which caused me to mature a little faster and have a different childhood. Bittersweet because I definitely don’t think I would be who I am today if that didn’t happen, but I would have loved to have had her growing up. Anywho, I was inspired by my childhood to start a non profit at the age of like 23/24. So I was having a bake sale and people kept asking me for my desserts. Which turned into a business (RnBTreats) my first actual business. Where I learned everything the ups and downs, ins and outs. I had to learn how to market correctly, of course always enhance my skill set with designing, learn patience with people who are never satisfied, and realize you work way more with a business than a 9-5 lol. I as determined though, and I don’t mind bumps on the road, makes the journey way more interesting and valuable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say Grandview or High street. Columbus always has something going on, so I would probably just get on eventbrite or look in the 614 magazine and see what we have going on. I don’t really plan. If I had too though I would say sandbox in Dublin or candle making on high street. Leave and end the night at Waves bar and kitchen for hookah, karaoke, and food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my Dad and friends! Especially my bestie TQ (stichgawd) she motivates me through everything. When I’m questioning my decisions or losing motivation she is always there with a good word. My Father (whom is no longer here) always believed in whatever I was doing. Always let me know he was proud of my ventures and supported me the best he could through my process.
