Meet Camille Petruccio | Owner & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Petruccio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camille, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I have to say my customer service and complete customization. Customers are always surprised at how quick I am to reply, answer questions and provide what they are looking for or have envisioned. My ability to create a cohesively branded collection of paper goods for customers in the style and color scheme they want is imperative. Customers often request things that they aren’t certain I can provide and 99% of the time I can which happily surprises them. I also offer unlimited revisions which go a long way in the design world and add to my customer service.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of being in business for 9 years without prior business experience or a business background and really teaching myself and learning along the way. I own a graphic design business and am essentially a self proclaimed and self taught graphic designer with a degree in interior design. It wasn’t easy and still isn’t, I don’t think owning any business is easy.
There have been many challenges and learning curves along the way but I have managed to figure it out. I’ve learned that at the beginning it is helpful to try and do everything yourself to learn the process (such as book keeping, taxes, production, the formatting and background work of file setup) but once you are more established to outsource those items to professionals so you can focus on what you are best at and what is the best use of time. It has also been super helpful to adapt to advances in technology and keep up with the latest trends and automations that can save you time and help run your business effectively (scheduling programs, CRM software, email automations, social media planners, etc.).
Impress Design Studio is a full-service graphic design company founded in 2014. Impress creates the essentials you need for a cohesively branded event that will leave your guests impressed. Whether it’s the party you host, wedding you plan or business you start I want to make it unforgettable. The invitations are the first impression for your guests and truly set the tone for your event. I believe your invitations and paper goods should embody the style, colors and overall aesthetic of your wedding while capturing your personality and elements of your relationship. The invitations matter but so do the little details, down to the signage, menus, and place cards. In order to design to this level I work with you, selecting the perfect fonts, colors and papers to achieve the style you desire. I want you to look back and remember every aspect of that big day, moment or success. And I want everyone else to remember it too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love playing tour guide, exploring what Cleveland has to offer and showing other people around is one of my favorite things! Showing someone around Cleveland for a week would entail a visit to Edgewater park/beach (as long as it wasn’t winter) with a stop at Il Rione for pizza after. A bike ride or walk along the Metroparks towpath and stopping at Szalays for lunch and some fall fun. A trip to Barrio for tacos followed by a Cleveland sports game (preferably the Guardians) then hanging out in the Flats East Bank for drinks on the Cuyahoga River! Hop around East 4th street one evening for drinks with dinner at Cordelia. Kayak at Rocky River Reservation with dessert at Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes. Grocery shopping at the West Side Market and the historic Heinen’s rotunda downtown, brewery tour along West 25th street, and maybe a boat ride on Lake Erie! We would get coffee and pastry at Versare Market + Cafe, brunch or lunch at Townhall, Italian at Lago East Bank or Luca and finish with the best ice cream at Mitchells. We would visit the Cleveland Museum of Art and catch a show at Playhouse Square. Late night drinks at Velvet Tango Room are a must!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say my very first wedding invitation customers, Bhavika and William Therrien. When they hired me to create their invitations I had never designed wedding invitations previously and quite honestly, had no business doing so! I had graphic design skills but was working at an architecture firm and dabbling in graphic design projects on the side for friends and family. I greatly enjoyed working with them and the patience they had throughout the process as we fine tuned everything. From their wedding came referrals for other weddings and not long after Impress was born!
