Meet candace gasper | Owner and Founder of Digital Candy

We had the good fortune of connecting with candace gasper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi candace, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
There’s a lot of thought and strategy that goes behind a post. Even something as casual as a meme can go through round after round of deliberation. Social is very strategic and even the most unassuming post is designed to appear that way.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Digital Candy in 2019 and things were pretty dandy. Business was great and I think everyone was kind of riding on this optimistic high and then Covid came. Learning to adapt and have humility were two of the greatest strengths I took away from the last 3 years. It was hard to go from feeling like I was on top of the world to having no idea what was going on or what was going to happen next.
The last 3 years have felt like a level-500 crash course in entrepreneurship but looking back I wouldn’t change it for anything.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bff was coming to visit me in Newport, KY the first place I’d take them is Press on Monmouth for a little coffee. Next a stroll down historic Monmouth Street. We’d have pre-dinner drinks at Jerry’s Jughouse on 7th Street and dinner at The Bakers Table. Later in the week, we’d have brunch at Otto’s in Covington, visit the Cincinnati Art Museum, and go to my favorite cemetery– the Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. I love soup so we’d go get pho at Pho Lang Thang or ramen at Zundo. I’d want to take her to the observatory so we could look at Jupiter and Mars!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been so many helpful people along the way. Jason Spooner was a big reason why I went out on my own. With his encouragement, I was able to start and he’s been a great mentor along the way. The entrepreneurship community in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati is super friendly and welcoming and has helped me immensely. There’s always someone here who is willing to lend a hand.
