Meet Carla Sanchez | Singer/actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carla Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carla, why did you pursue a creative career?
It is almost impossible to avoid the judgement and pressure pushed upon our generation, to pursue a “respectable” path that will guarantee some level of social status and financial stability. A path that will make you stand out amongst your peers and make your parents proud. But I believe there is something more than the norm of student loans and a comfortable house to us dreamers. We have a vision, a calling. We feel like we can leave a mark on this timeline. Doing this as an artist, through music, is a beautiful dream of mine. I know it won’t be easy, almost impossible. But I cannot rest at night knowing that waking up in 50 years, old and grey, full of regrets, is a possibility.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
All the songs that we create, the lyrics and melodies that I make, are inspired by “beautiful nostalgia”. I describe it as the kind of feeling you get when watching a full moon during a breezy, chilly fall night, that makes you remember the good memories, and the not so good ones, that made you who you are today. We bring this emotion to the next level by adding classic alternative rock sounds that are being forgotten. We try to create songs that have an edge, but also a harmonious balanced dynamic that encourages many more listens to hear everything you didn’t even realize you missed.
The vision of serious, driven and creatively distinct band mates is always a challenge with bands. We have had to lose and gain members to get to where we are, but we are grateful for everything that has happened up until this point, because it has shown us how important it is to be on the same page. We are all going to be working together and making music for a long time.
Attesa has Argentinian influence which you can see through our use of some spanish in lyrics, and our sun logo, which was inspired by the beautiful flag of my home.
I am originally from Argentina, and as the lead singer I knew I wanted to express and share that clearly! I’m also American, so I’m happy to say the songs we create are very well recieved in both countries. Argentinians are very proud of their country, and huge supporters of anything and everything that represents their country.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love food, so we’d definitely start with that. Kitchen Social has my favorite brunch, and I wouldn’t let my friend miss out on their cheddar and scallion biscuits. If it’s nice outside, we could take a walk around scenic Bridge Park and if we have a bit of extra stomach space left, we could stop by Fox in the Snow for pastries.
We would have to do happy hour at The Pearl, an oyster bar where the food and service are both outstanding. I have a lot of musicians friends who I love and support and I’m positive they’d have a show we could go to for good music and few drinks. After that, we could bar hop around the short north or maybe go straight to dancing at some fun clubs! If we had time to fit in a trip, we would definitely spend the day at Cedar Point!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Attesa grew out of an idea that I had, where I could find likeminded, driven and talented musicians to form a team. A team where we all work together towards the same goal: Leaving our little mark behind in music history. Attesa wouldn’t be Attesa without my teammates, my friends, and all our families who support us, always.
I also personally want to give recognition to my favorite band, who has inspired me profoundly to pursue my dreams, giving me the inspiration I needed to begin, Arctic Monkeys and their lead singer Alex Turner. His style of lyric writing and the band’s heavy bass lines, aswell as melodic reverby guitar parts, spark my artistic mind.
