Meet Cassandra (Safi Reala) Dearman | Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassandra (Safi Reala) Dearman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassandra (Safi Reala), can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Originally in 2011 I wanted to capture the vibe of what today would be called the “earthy girl”aesthetic. It was an act of expression and empowerment. I incorporated perfumed/cologned oils, incense/smudge sticks, colorful clothes, handbags and scarves. I also made beaded spiraled bracelets. The business helped take care of my household for a few years.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After Safieccentrics faded in 2022, I decided to start Safi Reala LLC in 2024. Safi Reala LLC is a business that I built around my passion, my creativity, and me. Let’s just say I’m a creative through multiple mediums. I love to write poetry and lyrics. I sing, and cook. I also act and model. If I can funnel my practice I would say I love to create content and create ideas. I display some of my passions online. I’m currently building a following and genuine relationships to share my expressions.
It’s not an easy task. I have had to stopped projects along the way due to lack of time working in another sector to keep the lights on. Which then leaves little to no money to invest in my business.
I work on my artistry in my spare time and have been an extra in a couple local films. I keep at it and I will not give up on myself. I still believe that I can become a full time creator. I have learned that I can persue my passions by what I am willing to commit and invest in myself. Whatever I put in I will get out. I have also learned to not limit my creativity. I have spent years searching for my niche just to realize I do not have one. Any artist that is struggling with that I will say just create! Authentic expression is an act of bravery.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So my best friend and I are nature girls so we would hit up a few parks. Honorable mentions are Hayden Falls, Blacklick Canopy Walk, Park of Roses, and Franklin Park Conservatory.
If it’s Summer time we would definitely want to catch some festivals. My favorites are Hot Times and Juneteenth. Hang out spots besides Maymee Moore park would be Pins Mechanical at Easton and Lincoln Cafe coffee shop. And let’s not forget about some good eats at Dos Hermanos, Afra Grill, Dabakh, Addis, and Flavor 91 Bistro.
