We had the good fortune of connecting with Cheryl McColgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cheryl, how does your business help the community?
There are a lot of big sites that write about health and wellness. However, mine is a bit different because to this point, I write all of the content myself and they’re all topics in which I have a personal interest. It’s important to me to go beyond conventional wisdom or standard of care and really dive into the research when I have questions about a particular topic. I realize not everyone has time to do this for themselves, so my goal is to make HealNourishGrow.com a source of in-depth health information that goes beyond mainstream information.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a writer in some capacity my entire life, but for the longest time, I never really felt comfortable giving myself that moniker. In my mind, the only “real” writers were those who wrote books. This became a lifelong goal for me that was finally realized, in part, due to the pandemic. During that time, I actually wrote two books; 21 Day Fat Loss Kickstart and Grain-Free Cookbook for Beginners: Your Essential Guide to Living a Grain-Free Lifestyle. It was a fantastic learning experience with both challenges and setbacks, but ultimately, success. Both of the books speak to the tenants of my brand which are the pursuit of ultimate wellness, healthy lifestyle and advanced nutrition.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have two scenarios for a friend coming to town and showing them a good time. I’ve lived in Cincinnati for over 30 years now, but took a short detour to live in Utah for a year. If we’re talking about Cincinnati, we have amazing restaurants and showing someone around would definitely include trips to Via Vite for a lamb shank, Jeff Ruby’s for a steak and Lonely Pine for the atmosphere. We’d also have to pop over and visit Coppins at Hotel Covington. By best friend designed the hotel and I always love the vibe there.

If I were showing someone the best time ever in my “heart home” in Utah, we’d be in the mountains hiking and snowboarding!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shout out to my dad, who was a huge influence on my personal health and wellness. He was ahead of his time with a dedication to exercise and nutrition. As I got older, I very much began to appreciate the lifestyle he modeled as I was growing up.
