We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic or creative career because it felt right. Once I realized that I was called to be an actor and writer, the decision to follow that path was very easy. Like like a painter must paint, a writer must write and an actor must act. It’s a necessity moreover a passion.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I made the decision to follow my heart and the path I was meant for back in 2005, when I realized I was meant to be an actor. I was living in Indiana at the time and decided that it was time to give this a shot. I worked a number of small independent films and short projects for no money at all. I just wanted to act and get my face out there so I worked for “exposure.” This continued until I worked my first professional paid gig as a lead in a feature film.

Seeing how I was a working actor, in 2013 I was ready to move out to Los Angeles Californian. I packed up everything I could fit in my car and headed west. I had the support of a couple dear friends out there who gave me a place to stay for the first few months until I got on my feet. It didn’t take long at all and I was hit with the reality that Los Angeles is an expensive place to live. I working two jobs, renting a bachelor studio apartment for way too much money, rationing a gallon of milk and ramen noodles, and living paycheck to paycheck. It was hard, but I was in the place I needed to be. Los Angeles is a melting pot of cultures and people. I studied them the best I could and used that in my “artistic toolbox,” if you will.

I spent the next eight years working a day job, while acting in my spare time. I was in a number of feature films, television shows, and commercials. I continued to write screenplays in my spare time as well. I was doing well enough that I even bought a house in California in 2020. However, in 2021, I made the decision to return to my hometown of Indiana in order to be closer to family. Life is too short to miss out on those moments. Family is the most important thing to me, aside from God.

I have now expanded my acting and writing to include producing. I started a company called Movieland USA and we are now in pre-production of our first film that I wrote and will produce, called “Together.” I will star in the film along side veteran actor, Doug Jones.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d have to take my friend to Bloomington, Indiana. It’s a melting pot similar to what I’ve experienced in Los Angeles, California, but without as many people. Great food, music, events, and a famous college town with plenty of parks and history.

I’d start by taking my friend to the walking trails on the IU campus. Then we’d grab a bite to eat at a local café. I love local café’s!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my family and friends who support and uplift me. Without their encouragement, I wouldn’t have the nerve or resources to be where I’m at in life.
