We had the good fortune of connecting with Clifton Canterbury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Clifton, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Most of the early part of my life I dealt with depression in a way that was really unhealthy. Due to this I never really took to much risk. I remained complacent with how things were, and I was ok living in mediocrity. My life seemed to not be getting any better so around 33 I decided something had to change. I realized that only by risking everything comfortable that I knew would I ever see improvement. there is nothing wrong with playing it safe for this works for a lot of people. For me personally taking risks is the only way to achieve greatness depending on how you define that word. Throwing myself into the unknown knowing that I will give it everything I have seems to be paying off big time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the things that I hold most dear to myself is my integrity and work ethic. Most of the jobs or gigs that I have worked in this industry have resulted in great personal friendships, and more work than I could ever ask for. I truly believe in living life with integrity. For me my professional sense means everything as far as showing up on time and being as professional as possible. I never allow my ego to say, ” that’s not my job”. I will help anyone at any time to make sure the job goes smoothly. I never view myself as above anyone in any setting. I have also found that in helping wherever I can I learn so many different aspects of professional touring. I know in this industry that longevity and consistency is everything. I want anyone that I have ever come across to come to me if they ever need my services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are definitely quite a few places to choose from. One of the biggest attractions in our area is Cedar Pointe which is the greatest roller coaster park on the planet. I am a big hiker and love to take newcomers to the metro parks at the Cuyahoga Valley state parks system. IT is one of the biggest most visited parks systems in all of the United States. I don’t think I could pick any specific places to eat for we have so many non-corporate little dinners that serve some of the best food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my dear friend Chris Bianchi. This man gave me my start in this industry from the early days of our careers.
