Meet Cynthia Terherst | Founder | Lead Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cynthia Terherst and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynthia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Without a doubt, if there’s one secret sauce behind Denton Cove’s success, it’s my unyielding tenacity. I’ve got a relentless spirit that refuses to throw in the paintbrush, no matter what hurdles come my way. Whether you call it stubbornness or simply being a dedicated workaholic, I’ve got it in spades! When challenges arise, I see them as opportunities to flex my creative muscles and push boundaries. It’s this unwavering determination that keeps Denton Cove sailing through rough waters and painting smiles on our customers’ faces, one craft kit at a time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Denton Cove isn’t just about crafting; it’s about curating memorable experiences that foster creativity and community. What sets us apart is our unwavering dedication to providing top-quality DIY craft kits and paint parties tailored for various occasions, whether it’s a cozy gathering at a host’s home, a community center, a restaurant, or business location.
I take immense pride in the diverse and inclusive community we’ve built around Denton Cove. People of all ages and skill levels come together for our personalized paint parties, whether it’s for intimate gatherings like bridal showers or kid’s birthday parties, fundraisers, or for businesses seeking team-building activities. Witnessing the joy on our customers’ faces as they bring their artistic visions to life as well as the fun and way all of the party guests interact and strengthen their relationships is what fuels my excitement for our events.
My journey to where I am today has been challenging, but it’s been marked by resilience and determination. From overcoming financial obstacles to navigating logistical challenges, I’ve learned to adapt and grow. Surrounding myself with a supportive network and staying true to my vision has been crucial in overcoming these hurdles.
As Denton Cove continues to evolve, my goal is to expand our offerings and collaborate with local businesses to host DIY craft paint parties that bring people together in creative and meaningful ways. With our unique travel service, we bring the party directly to our clients’ preferred locations, ensuring convenience and flexibility. While I currently handle all aspects of Denton Cove operations, I envision growing our team to include dedicated instructors who share our mission of spreading the joy of art. Together, we’ll cultivate an inclusive community where everyone feels empowered to unleash their creativity and make lasting memories.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, this is how I’d plan out a week of fun in the Ozarks.
We’ll start by hitting the trails in the Ozark Mountains for a scenic hike. After soaking in the views, we’ll head to one of the nearby lakes or rivers for some kayaking or canoeing, maybe even a swim if the weather’s right.
Next, we’ll take a day trip to Branson, MO, for some entertainment and good eats. Gettin Basted is a must for award-winning barbecue, and we’ll enjoy a meal at El Mexico Lindo in Harrison, AR, for some tasty Mexican cuisine.
For some nighttime relaxation, we’ll head back to my 400+ acre farm and set up a bonfire. There’s nothing quite like gathering around the fire, roasting marshmallows, and sharing stories under the starry sky.
Between outdoor adventures, exploring the local scene, and cozy nights by the fire, I’m sure my friend will have a great time experiencing the beauty and charm of the Ozarks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business besties, a group of three women, that I meet with every Wednesday afternoon deserve a little credit. We talk about various business issues and struggles as well as what’s working. We also share about life, our families, work/life balance, etc. We challenge each other and celebrate each other!
