Meet Dani Herrera | Artist with paperDENIMart

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dani Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dani, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
One main habit that I felt helped succeed was to stay connected to local businesses. I feel it’s important to keep your art out in local places so people will start to recognize your work and to donate to local compassionate fundraisers
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to use unconventional materials like dryerlint, old clothes, candy wrappers even hair and give it a new life and create art work from them. i am not formally trained and when i tried to go to art school , I was rejected. I gave up for a long time until I wanted to try again but appeal to the public. And this time it was working and I was able to connect with people on a personal level and for me this was the key to becoming more successful
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We could go to the Toledo Art Museum, then have dinner at Souk restaurant in downtown Toledo. And have coffee at Sip Coffee house. Then the next day go the the Toledo Zoo , have dinner at San Marcos and coffee at Rustbelt coffee
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shout out to all my faithful donations from friends/supporters/fellow crafters . I get alot of my fabrics/materials from others who are wanting to find a second life for their trash
