We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Litteral and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For many years, I struggled to pinpoint exactly what I wanted to do as a long-term career. I changed my major several times in college and even explored the corporate world, but it didn’t take long to realize that the traditional 9-to-5 lifestyle wasn’t for me.

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I was still bartending—and truthfully, doing quite well financially. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t something I could see myself doing forever. I had always been passionate about skincare and wellness, and during one of my regular facial appointments, something just clicked. In that moment, I felt a strong pull toward esthetics, not just as a profession, but as a path that could shape a better future for myself and my family.

After working in various roles within the esthetics industry, I realized there was still something missing. I loved the work, but I often felt constrained by the fast-paced environment and the pressure to fit 10–14 clients into a single day. It was draining, and I knew I wanted more—for both myself and my clients. I was going above and beyond in every session, but I didn’t have the freedom to deliver the kind of high-quality, intentional care I believed in.

Starting my own business was a way to reclaim that freedom. I wanted control over my schedule, the services I offered, and most importantly, the experience I provided. It was about creating a space where I could truly connect with clients, offer customized care, and find a healthier work-life balance—not just for me, but for the long-term vision I had for my family.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I’m most proud of is the atmosphere I’ve created for my clients—one that’s not only deeply relaxing but also results-driven. From the beginning, my mission has been to design a space where clients feel genuinely cared for, never rushed or undervalued. I want every person who walks into my treatment room to leave knowing that every dollar they spent was worth it, and that their time and trust were truly honored.

My commitment to excellence runs deep. I’ve invested countless hours into continued education, advanced trainings, and mastering the latest technologies and skincare innovations so I can offer the highest quality services possible. I believe in never becoming stagnant—there’s always more to learn and more ways to improve the client experience.

That said, the journey to get where I am today hasn’t been easy. My first year in business came with its fair share of challenges, both personal and professional. Being in a female-dominated industry can be incredibly empowering, but it also comes with its own set of complexities. Unfortunately, not every environment champions community over competition. I experienced moments of gossip, doubt, and resistance from some in the local industry.

But through it all, I chose to take the high road. I kept my head up and stayed focused on my values—integrity, authenticity, and service. I trusted that the clients who truly knew me and the experience I provide would continue to show up—and they did. Their loyalty reminded me that staying true to yourself always wins in the long run.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is this: I’m here to make people feel seen, cared for, and empowered in their skin. I believe there’s room for all of us to succeed, and I genuinely love seeing other small businesses, especially women-led ones, thrive. My story isn’t just about building a business—it’s about building a community rooted in trust, growth, and compassion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now that I’m a mom, I’ll be honest—I don’t get out as much as I used to! Columbus has grown so quickly over the years, and I’ll admit I’m a little behind on the trendiest new spots. That said, if my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d still know exactly how to show them a great time.

We’d definitely kick things off with breakfast or brunch at Fox in the Snow Café—it’s one of my all-time favorite spots. The vibe is cozy, the pastries are unreal, and if you’re a friend of mine, chances are you love coffee just as much as I do.

Depending on the season, the itinerary would shift. If it’s football season, we’re absolutely going to an Ohio State game—Go Bucks! There’s nothing quite like the energy in the stadium on game day. Afterward, we’d head to the Short North, one of Columbus’ most lively and eclectic areas, for dinner and drinks. It’s packed with incredible restaurants, bars, and local shops that make for a fun night out.

If it’s summer, I’d take us out of the city for a bit and head to Apple Valley, where my family has a lake house. It’s the perfect place to unwind—quiet, peaceful, but still filled with fun. Whether we’re relaxing by the water, going for a boat ride, or just soaking up the sun, it’s a special place that feels like a little escape from everyday life.

Overall, the week would be a mix of good coffee, great food, Buckeye pride, city vibes, and a touch of nature—pretty much all the things I love most.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There have been so many people and pivotal moments that have shaped my journey, but if I had to dedicate a shoutout, it would absolutely go to my family—especially my daughter. Becoming a mother brought a level of clarity and purpose I had never experienced before. She became my why—the driving force behind every risk I took and every step I made toward building something meaningful. She inspires me daily to create a life rooted in freedom, balance, and joy—not just for myself, but for both of us.

I also want to dedicate this to my partner. His unwavering support and belief in me made it possible to bring my business to life. From encouraging me during moments of doubt to physically helping bring my studio vision to reality, he’s been there every step of the way. He believed in me—even when others didn’t—and that kind of steady love and encouragement made all the difference. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
