We had the good fortune of connecting with Devearn Winbush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devearn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was playing in the clubs 7 nights a week I got married and my life changed started going to church because wife wanted a saved husband. So, I prayed and said lord I’ve got all this music in me I need something to do. I had a dream i was doing sound at a stadium. that was the start of small sounds.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a percussionist. As kid I love music, I would beat on my mom’s pots and pans food jars, and I would play till my hands got. sore and swollen. my mom loved music too she was a bar maid she would always come home with the newest. music out so I would listen to it and create the best drum pattens. And beats one day I was beating a mayonnaise jar and when picked the jar up the bottom fell out and my mom said What did you say the name of that drum you wanted It’s called a conga drum mom! what sets me apart from other drummers I knew what part to play when I was playing with other musicians. I got to where I am today by being on time and sometimes being early doing what my mouth says keeping my word. It was very hard especially when I was working and trying to run a business. I want people to find something you like to do and learn to get paid for it. If God gives you Vision and you follow it, he will make a way. If I can see it, I can achieve it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I Love live music, so I be hitting all the live spots. like the Savoy Lounge, The Commons for all the concerts The Retro lounge, as for food and drink all the same stuff
