We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Slaughter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond, how do you think about risk?
I feel like everyone needs to take a risk in their life because that can lead to so many good opportunities. The rest I took in my life is that you know, knowing in this industry with models there’s a way you have to look unfortunately you know you have to be a skinnier size and you have to be a size 2 you have to walk straight you have to have amazing posture and walk in these heels and I knew that was the risk that I was taking so I don’t know how to walk in heels and I know I’m not skinny and I took that risk and I was able to get in multiple magazines and get amazing opportunities

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up not fitting the beauty standard was very hard, of course a lot of bullying came my way and it affected my mindset. I currently suffer from depression and anxiety, but you know I overcome it. I’m determined to make a really really big impact with my art with my modeling with my singing whatever talent that I’m trying to showcase I am going to make that impact. I’m very proud of my billboard in New York City blaze magazine to see my face on that big screen, it was just like oh my God I really made it like I’m doing it learn how to love yourself first everybody in the world can love you, which is fine, but do you love yourself take the time out of your day to complement yourself every minute every second even the simplest compliment you look great today. Something like that just something simple love yourself first because in the end nobody is gonna love you more than you do. If you don’t think it was deserved why do you think it happened?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I know a lot of people don’t think we have anything here in Ohio, but we have like a lot of fun activities to do here. We have like a lot of karaoke bars you know there’s definitely a lot of things that you can eat and you can try here and of course, we have concert halls we have our stadium and so much graffiti like that just looks so beautiful there so much on the building that I would showcase for everybody to see because there are so many artists here in Cleveland that don’t even get recognition for the beautiful art that they put on these buildings like it’s so gorgeous and of course, the fashion shows that we host here are always something for the books. I would take someone to a fashion show, and I would probably go eat at like a hot pot. They have really good food there too and things look like water and we have like a lot of beautiful views of oceans and stuff so I would take somebody to go look at the ocean because that’s a great place to think at least for me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I do want to give a shout out to all of the Ohio models I want to give a shout-out to Charkia for even giving me a chance and promoting all curves To all my photographers for taking the amazing photos and also can it be a chance.I want to give a shout out to a certain book that I love called just Jamie that embraces every uniqueness about you and of course, I can’t do anything in life without my brothers, my grandmother, my auntie, and my wonderful mother. She is my absolute everything. The reason that I want to wake up, she’s the reason I want to live and do better just to see her face, so happy.
