Hi Diana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because music has never felt like a job or work to me. It’s a deeply creative process, and every time I practice or perform, it feels fresh and unique. It’s something I genuinely enjoy doing, a form of self-expression that constantly renews my passion.

Beyond personal fulfillment, I’ve always been inspired by the way music can evoke a wide range of emotions and create meaningful connections with people. It’s a universal language that can bring joy, comfort, and inspiration to others. Being able to share that experience and knowing that I can touch lives through my art is incredibly rewarding. What could be better than having a job that not only brings me joy but also has the potential to make the world a better place? To me, being in a creative field is about more than just doing what I love—it’s about contributing something positive and meaningful to society.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art revolves around my passion for music, especially as a pianist and educator. What sets my work apart is my focus on blending technical skill with emotional expression, creating performances that deeply connect with audiences. I strive to convey the emotions and stories behind each piece, not just play the notes, to forge a meaningful connection with listeners.

I’m proud of how my Ukrainian heritage informs my music. My album, ‘Neskoreni, Vol. 1: Bortkiewicz,’ reflects this by showcasing lesser-known works and highlighting my cultural roots. I also founded the ‘Music for Ukraine’ concert series to raise funds and support Ukrainians affected by the war. This initiative allows me to use my music to support causes close to my heart and demonstrates the power of art to bring people together and inspire change.

Reaching this point in my career wasn’t easy. I faced intense competition and the challenge of finding my unique voice. Along the way, I learned the importance of self-belief and trusting in my creative vision. Staying true to myself and my heritage has been crucial, as has the commitment to create meaningful art that impacts others.

Ultimately, my journey is about more than music—it’s about passion, resilience, and making a difference. I hope to inspire others to pursue their creative paths and use their talents to contribute positively to the world. Embracing my roots, overcoming challenges, and continuously evolving as an artist are all parts of my story, and I encourage others to find and share their own unique voices.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It will come as no surprise that I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mom and my husband. They have been my biggest supporters and have inspired me throughout my journey. Their unwavering encouragement has been invaluable in all my endeavors, always pushing me to grow as a person and an artist. My mom instilled in me a love for music from a young age, and her passion continues to inspire me every day. My husband has been a constant source of strength and understanding, always believing in my potential. Without their love, guidance, and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
