We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ Flavaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There is never no giving up. Once i put my mind into something i want to succeed. Things may be hard and things can be challenging but what’s the point in trying something that easy. I like challenge and i feel you grow after succeeding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an authentic DJ. I was taught by Meech The DJ (Rest in Heaven) who shape me into who i am today. I practice one time which was my first time and it was a 8 hour session. After that i took my dj controller to every venue that had event and i would plug up early before the actual dj got there and sometimes they let me dj most of the night. I’ve been a dj for 6 years and I’ve been in multiple states, dj for big names such as Glorilla, Lil Boosie, Dababy, Sexy Red, K Camp, Polo G, Luh Tyler, and many more. The challenges i faced wasn’t with djing it was more facing regular life problems at home when I’m not a DJ, when I am a Dj i try to present myself professionally and as if i am one the top Dj’s in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My go to spots in Akron, Ohio is Social 8, Floods, Crave, El Patron, Wild Lotus, and Akron Rubber City Sports Bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout to Forever The Guys LLC (FTG) as being a bond and family of friends through college that all had the same interest and that’s music. I also want to thank my family, friends, and fans that continue to push me to be great and really take Dj’ing to another level. Also i want to shoutout Stige, Rell, KJ, Big Boat Productions, and Nightlyfe for putting in big rooms.
